Pros: picture quality,costumes,story
Cons: choice of shots

Funky Joe(Sam Loco Efe) is a 62 years old man who is yet to marry.Concerned by his marital status, his relations in the village, decide to bring him a wife. This is done to continue his lineage as the next ruler of the village.
He refuses the offer since according to him,he is yet to make it in the city;given his job as a herbal medicine seller. After much pressure from the visitors,Funky Joe reluctantly takes in his wife, joy(Maryann Apollo).

Joy undergoes training under Madam No Shaking(Chinyere Wilfred), her landlady,on how to look nice for her husband and the city. This will make her husband love her and thus make her keep him.
Her metamorphosis from the village girl to a gorgeous city babe astounds Funky Joe.

Lugard(played by newcomer,D.Marcus Chuckz)comes back from his sojourn in the West Coast and comes to the city to put up with Funky Joe in his one room apartment.Since Lugard is the son of his old friend,in his days in the navy,Joe has no choice than to allow him stay.

Joy's blend into the city is complete when she is able to get Chief(Larry Morgan Briggs)to open a restaurant for her.She gets Joe and Lugard to work for her as her cook and waiter respectively. This turns her into a Commanding Wife.

This hilarious comedy, directed by Amayo Uzor Phillips(Aki na Ukwa),also stars Alaso Wariboko(Sweet Banner)as Bourdillon,a pickpocket who is also a childhood friend of Lugard.
One refreshing change about this movie is the different storyline and the ability of the actors to carry out their roles well.Take for instance, the character Joy.Viewers will be left reeling with laughter by her thick Efik or Ibibio accent.

Kudos should also be given to Marcus for his brilliant story and his ability to match slapstick with sit-com to create Commanding Wife. His debut as an actor and his use of the 'waffi'street lingo is commendable.
Larry's portrayal of an Ibo chief, thick accent and all is really fantastic. This is coming from a man who can speak Queen's English really well. This goes to show he is in A-list of Nigerian actors.

One really hilarious part of this flick is the scene where the pickpocket attempts to pick the pocket of a man in a market. This man on noticing him at different sides of him, continually changes the pocket for his wallet.Bourdillon in frustration asks the man to keep his wallet in one place so that he will know what he is doing;because his eyes is going dizzy!
Although directed by Amayo, the choice of shots in some scenes is suspect and at times amateurish. The scene where Funky Joe is having a dialogue with his landlady is an example.Another is the scene where Joe is selling his medicine and demostrating to the crowd. The shot should have been zoomed out to contain the action, instead of following the up and down movement of the action.

Shot in Port Harcourt and produced by Larry Morgan Briggs' Platinum Pictures Inc,the movie is a noteworthy debut from Platinum Pictures.
