Description:
|
Starring: Stephanie Okereke, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Desmond Elliot, Uche Jumbo & Ngozi Ezeonu.
Directed by Osita Okoli and Produced by Emem Isong.
Genre: Religious (Romance)
Synopsis: Peter (Udokwu) and Hope (Okereke) have been married for six years without children. Both Christian and active in the church, things begin to take a turn for the worse when Peter backslides from his faith and begins an affair with a mistress (Jumbo) while fathering his illegitimate son at the side. Hope is frustrated with her tidings, even though she holds on to her faith in God and her ability to conceive. The plot thickens with the advent of Hank (Elliot), a conman who, in a twist of mistaken identity, rapes and impregnates Hope. What follows is even more trial and tribulation as Peter turns abusive (rather than comforting) to Hope in revulsion towards her rape and pregnancy. He brings his mistress and child into their home, and all hell is loose. Will Hope remain steadfast , or will she give up?

I am rating this one superb, excellent and intelligent.
The script was beautifully written. The actors delivered. Special kudos to Stephanie and Uche! Stephanie needs to record some church songs ooo. Bob Manuel abeg kill the fake accent because you are running over some of the words

Pros:

Well shot

|
Cons:

Poor character development

I would have rated it higher if it were not for the whole "falling in love with a rapist" angle.
We didnt even see Desmond change and then next minute they are in love... NOT FEELING IT AT ALL.
Total trivilisation of rape as an issue and a damaging social issue at that. I would have expected better from Emem.
Many times in the films it is expected that women should expect rape and get over it just like that... rapists often acting like they are doing the victim a favour... can't condone it at all...
This film is also a bit too unrealistic.
