Lilian Bach
Delta Soap model and University of Lagos undergraduate, Lilian Bola Bach literally exploded in the year 2003. Not only did she grab roles in the English home video genre, she has become a hot face In the Yoruba home video scene. Since the beginning of this year, she has done over 10 Yoruba films outside her steady English roles. Lilian has also become super hot on television, with roles in Wale Adenuga's Super Story and Zeb Ejiro's Sweet and Sour soap operas.
I'm happy for her, but she's still an ok actress whose looks precede her acting skills.
Shola Shobowale
Since she made Outkast I & 11, Shola has become one of the best cross- over actresses in the country. She has appeared in over 10
English home video films in the last eight months and has become the biggest female face ever in Yoruba films. Within the period, Shola has Ianded over three awards, both local and international in her kitty, for her resilience in the industry. She is perhaps, the wealthiest movie mum in Nigeria today.
DEFINITELY A GOOD ACTRESS.
Stella Damasus-Aboderin
It seems that the floodgates just burst open for beautiful actress Stella Damasus-Aboderin, this year. She is one of the actresses who has done more jobs in the industry than the others. Beyond acting, Stella has become a regular face at highbrow events where she and hubby, Jaiye Aboderin, play music with their band, Synergy. Stella has not only cleaned out with her movie roles this season, she has earned the highest fee than any other actress on stage in Nigeria today. Also, hardly has there been any major stage plays in the country in the last six months which did not feature Stella.
HOMEGIRL IS DA BOMB!! IN MY OPINION,SHE'S A BETTER ACTRESS THAN GENEVIEVE....AND NOT BAD SINGER TOO.
Rita Dominic
England returnee, Rita Dominic Nwaturuocha is the biggest explosion in the English home-video scene. Rita was sent to Nigeria by her big brother to facilitate her father's movement to London on medical check-up. A trip which ordinarily would have taken her two months has seen Rita featuring in more home video films in five months, twice more than she did between 1997 and 2001, when she was hustling for jobs.
I HAVENT SEEN A OT OF HER MOVIES, BUT SHE WAS NICE IN THE ONES I SAW....SHE AINT BAD LOOKING EITHER
Observers in the industry are already tipping Rita as the revelation of 2004, one that may replace current screen queen and her bossom friend, Genevieve Nnaji. Rita's fees have also shot up to an all-time high in just five months.
Genevieve Nnaji
Without much ado, Genevieve Nnaji rules the scene right now. She is more identifiable to some school children than the Governors of their States. Even when people had expected her to burn out having featured in every home video shot in English Language, Genevieve has remained on top instead, gathering more roles and making more money than any Nigerian actress in the industry at present. Her commercial appeal has made her the most prolific actress of all-time and rather than dim her audience appeal, she has garnered more admirers from the numerous roles she play.
NO NEED TO SAY MUCH. E GO JUST DEY REDUNDANT
Clarion Chukwura-Abiola
Whatever the motive is, whether commercial or to remain in public glare, Clarion Chukwura is currently the biggest come-back actress in home video and television. Clarion has done over a dozen films in English home video in the last six months and slightly above that number in the Yoruba home video. Besides her return to the movie scene,
her role in the Unilever sponsored ,Sweet and Sour alongside Alex Usifo.Omiagbo whom she acted with in Ripples the longest soap opera on Nigerian television, is seen as a move to reclaim the top spot. Incidentally, Marketers, Producers and the tube audience seem to like her return to the klieg lights.
OK, CLARION WAS GOOD BACK IN HER "MIRROR IN THE SUN" DAYS. NOW,HER ACTINGS SKILLLS ARE A COMPLETE WASHOUT. I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED TO HER. I MEAN SHE WAS ON PAR WITH JOKE SILVA.BUT NOW HER ACTING IS MEDIOCRE AT BEST. OR MAYBE SHE ACTS BETTER IN YORUBA MOVIES....I DUNNO. OH, AND SHE NEEDS TO FIRE MAKE-UP ARTIST.
Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde
She represents the group which comprises of Sandra Achums and others. And despite the decline of the group in the home video, she has remained one of the most wanted faces in the industry. Omotola and Lilian Each, have suddenly become the most featured faces in the Yoruba film industry. Omotola has over 10 Yoruba movies to her credit this year alone and almost double that number in her regular English home video turf. She still commands the market in the Igbo axis, making her a sure cast in most of their flicks.
