Lucky Dube Storms Afrika Shrine - Performs With Femi Kuti On Sunday

Fans of Abami-Eda, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, are in for the best of African music this Sunday at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja, as curtain would be drawn on this year's edition of the Felabration concert.

Taking the centre stage on Sunday are Lucky Dube and Femi Kuti, who are expected to dish out the best of deep-rooted African music. Lucky Dube, who arrived the country en route South Africa on Tuesday, revealed to Showbiz that he was happy to be back in the country.

“Nigeria is my home and there is nothing too much to give in celebrating a legend like Fela Anikulapo Kuti,” he said. For Tunde Oshinibosi, the point man of the Felabration shows," Fans should expect nothing but the best, this is not our first time in organising an event with high magnitude such as this, so they should troop out in their thousands for this great show of the year.”

As the climax of musical concerts of this year's Felabration before the real carnival starting on Monday, Femi Kuti would also be on stage on Sunday with Lucky Dube at the shrine.

It will be recalled that until Fela Anikulapo Kuti travelled to America where he was exposed to the works of Malcolm Little a.k.a Malcolm X and Black Panther, Fela was a conformist musician who mainly love songs. He never drank alcohol nor smoked cigarette.

All that changed after the tour. He became a non-conformist, using his songs to point out the ills of the society and corruption in high places. This new attitude pitched him against the agents of the law. That was how he found his way into the hearts of many and later became a legend. This is the essence of the celebration of Felabration yearly.
