Former member of the defunct Plantashun Boyz group and reggae act, Augustine Ahmedu a.k.a Black Face, is set to release his own version of the controversial award winning hit track, African Queen released by an ex-member of the band, Innocent ‘Tuface’ Idibia, on Kennis Music label. Investigations revealed that the Ghetto-Child crooner is making plans to release the track on his third solo album: Chapter One, which will be marketed by Globedisk records. Black Face, who claims he owns the original copyright of the song which has fetched the Idoma-born Tuface Idibia, multiple awards, disclosed to Entertainment Cafe that his own version will be rendered in the reggae genre of music.
According to him, “after recording the song in reggae, I played it to Tuface, who also urged me to do the track and include it in my forthcoming album.” Contrary to speculations that the love that once existed between the artistes, went sour, when Tuface’s record label, Kennis Music, denied Black Face the acknowledgement he is entitled to on the track, he told Entertainment Cafe, that he was betrayed by Kennis Music over the agreement, and not Tuface. “I wrote the song and Tuface only helped to arrange the lyrics, when we were still living together. I just decided to give him the track when he was going to record his solo album and wished him success, since we both agreed that I would be acknowledged when the song is released. Kennis Music entered a contract with him (Tuface) and they denied me my right,” he explained.
