Has anyone taken time to ask why all the dark-skinned ladies are ecceptionally pretty unlike the light ones?
A lot has been discussed about skin colour issue but I can't ignore what i see on homevideos. I find it disgusting that a dark-skinned woman must be very pretty to be able to have success in the movie industry, while the yellow ones are picked even if they are "wowo".
Examples are Oge Okoye, Rita Dominic, Nkiru Sylvanus, etc... just to mention a few. To me these women are far from being pretty but yet they are compared to real beauties like Gene, Chioma, Uche, Bimbo, etc...
Of course we also have light-skinned goddess like Omosexy and SDA but they are ecceptions in this case.
Why is Nollywood so colour conscious?

I think that light skinned people... especially the mixed race ones are overrepresented in Nollywood... the curse of the colour complex lives on. I put in a film for my mother. She is Nigerian but doesn't watch the films and she was like, "What is this? Why is everyone yellow?"
Yes I know there are many yellow people in Nigeria but for someone who is not from the country and just watching the films they would think half the country is mixed race and that is definitely NOT the case.
They need to start promoting darker skin more and stop feeding into Westernised ideals of beauty... Having said that I am not dark and if I was offered a place in a Nollywood film I would say HELL to the YEAAAAAAH! LOL So I don't blame them... Everybody gotta eat!
