The writer of that quote fails to mention that Carol Mosley-Braun and Cynthia McKinney are simply not very impressive people and could never be mentioned with the likes of more accomplished lawmakers. And while I personally really, really, like Al Sharpton, he is part savant, part vigilante, part circus clown.
The writer also failed to mention that there
were (
Adam Clayton Powell,
Barbara Jordan,
Andrew Young - to name a very few - ) and
are (
Charles Rangel,
Maxine Water,
Sheila Jackson-Lee my favorite..) many, many African-America legislators that were well respected by both races and parties. And they were closer to Obama in continence, intellect and demeanor that they were to the people he mentioned....
