The only African player of the year awards that Okocha won were the awards handed out by the BBC. The African player of the year awards were initially being handed out by France football and it was the most reputable African football award. In fact, those awards were being handed out even before CAF starting handing out such awards and Okocha never won that award. He also failed to win CAF's African footbalelr of the year award. So he didn't win it.
