I never carry more than share of luggage. And I will never have any other passport aside of my Green one. Should I be treated with disdain too just because I am Nigerian? Its there problem if they have no clue how to solve the real problems. Insulting a whole nation must stop. If we take a stand with this idiots, the others will get the message. We don't all have to stop flying them. Just enough to dent their pocket is all we need. That's the only place where they fell pain.
Pray tell us, what should we also do about the troublesome ones among us? Should we the innocent ones also continue to sit aside and watch others make fool of themselves at our expense? You and others have made excellent points but it really starts from us and not them. When we choose to misbehave by disrespecting ourselves, then we have no one to blame but ourselves….i remember back in 2000 a Ghanaian lady at Dullas airport was told just like all of us that the limit for each of her luggage was 70pounds or so. This woman made a big scene at the airport just because of this…this rule applied to all of us and mind you I am not referring only to black people but to ALL….My uncle and I were standing directly behind her in the line and she went on and on and wasted our time…finally, they took her aside and a shouting march started btwn she and the airport stuff for the airline…as the flight officials had simply had enough of her tantrums….imagine if this had been after 911! My uncle who was traveling that day, (I was only there to see him off) wanted to drink some coffee and so after he checked in, we went off to MacDonalds…later on when he was going to his gate we had to walk pass the check in area and we saw this silly woman now sitting on the floor begging and crying....a simple rule that she could have obeyed but no, the African woman had to make a scene as usual….when my uncle got to Kotoka airport in Ghana, he later told me that he saw the woman narrating the events to her relatives and going on about what she did to them before they allowed her to bring all of her things….meanwhile, I am pretty sure that she paid for the excess luggage as there is no way they will have allowed her to travel…see, it is not about the people treating us unfairly….I think we have passed that stage and it is time we also start taking responsibility by respecting our selves….Whether we like it or not, these oyibo people do not like us and are always looking for the chance to resent us….so why should we also make it easy for them? You do not see them treating others asuch as they know that after all they have their own planes and something to show for….but what do we Africans have to show for? Nothing but yet, we got big mouth to complain when we act up. Abeg, make we see something jare. The other Ghanaians who came by later on thought the airport stuff were being racist as usual....but those of us who were there at the time when the incident occurred, saw everything and understood where the stuff members of the airline were coming from. those on the BA airline who spoke on the behalf of the so called victim, had they witness his behavior right from the start and not when he got into the BA plane, may have kept quite...see, we the innocent ones end up getting it too when others are misbehaving...hmmm.
