I thought i'm was only one who had that experience with wazobia.com. I really thought they were reliable till i had my december 8 2006 encounter with them. I order about 6 movies and i never got them. I have called, mailed and no response from anyone.

Well that served a lesson, i will never ever order movie from there again.

These two sites are very reliable. The first site is owned by a Ghanian lady; very nice woman.

who knows where one could stream online (where it is free i no mind oo), i think that is much faster and i dont have to keep some movies that i might not watch again since there are more shitty and crappy movies out there. streaming will save me a lot of trouble. thanx

I just don't understand why some ppl are trying to sell a $2.99 movie for $7.99. I guess as long as somebody is buying it, you just keep on raking in the dollars.

One thing is clear tho. Overpricing original copies of movies will only continue to enrich the bootleggers, 'cause everyday, their bootlegged copies are looking better and more & more like the real thing.

BTW, I'm not trying to encourage buying bootlegged copies in any way, but you can't ignore facts.

This site is extremely good, the customer service is exceptional, immediate answer to phone calls, all emails responded to within hours and orders are shipped faaaasssssst. I have never had a problem with them and getting my homvies.

    ww.latestafricanmovies.com/
This site is good too, huge extensive library. She is a very nice lady, easy going, unfortunately, the customer service is not always the best. They are difficult to get on phone or via email, but when the lady gets around to responding, she takes care of all problems. The only reason she is not my number 1 is the customer service and my homvies do not arrive for weeks no matter what I'm told.

I also had problems with wazobia too. It tooks months and then when it finally arrived, I got an incomplete order, there were 10 still outstanding. When I asked about the remaining 10 homvies, I got silence and that has been it.
Dreaming is half the getting there

Question: Do any of these people distributing these movies actually have a contract with the filmmakers/distributors in Nigeria?

For some reason, I really think most of them get them from pirates and none of the money they're making is being given back to the industry, and this is really hurting the industry.

If you had a chance to buy/rent from a legitimate distributor/renter who's service is top notch, will you do so?

I suspect 90% of them are mere pirates, which is a big shame. Once in a while I do stream Naija films through vendors who claim to have a pact with the distributor/producer and in so doing release a percentage of the revenue. I don't totally buy into that so my best bet is to get my movies from Nigeria. If however there is a legitimate outlet for Naija movies in the US... I will have no problem crashing in their store once in awhile.

Reality check: ''MOST'' Nigerians want something good for NOTHING . If the price will climb up as a result of the legitimate outlet, I am afraid majority who ARE used to 'stolen' goods will turn the other direction. Nevertheless, a legitimate outlet for Naija films is a great idea...

Nollywood is not serious if not they would have had a serious distribution of genuine Naija movies in place abroad ...they are losing so much potential to make foreign exchange.

Most of those here sell piarated copies. Some make the extra effort to make the packaging neat and charge an arm and a leg !!

Looks like the movie industry in Naija is content selling to Nigerians within its borders.

If it doesnt have that silver seal it isnt original !!

The truth is a Naija movie is N300

The exchange rate is about N135 to a dollar !!

So the movie technically cost less than $3.00 !!!!!!

Why are we paying almost $10 for a movie ????

I mean the greed sef tire me !!!

I mean if they distribute an original copy for $5 is that not enough profit ????

So when they sort these things out I will buy the original copy to help the industry if not I will just keep buying from my ATL connection -$3 a pop no frills packaging ...infact she dubs the thing right before my eyes and puts it into a white disk envelope where she writes the name of the title with a black marker !!! (wetin consine me)

No vex I no go fit play that Jack and Jill game of waiting for original movie to come from Naija ...I aight that patriotic to the industry yet !!

or better watch it free online pakpa

    It isn't always so simplistic.

    1) A reputable movie released in the Western world should be on DVD, NOT vcd. To buy a blank, burn a movie on it, package it presentably since it is abroad, pay the content (moviemaker) provider, advertise to sell it and other overheads already give you at the minimum, depending on how many you make, $3 per unit cost. Add taxes and shipping and maybe profit and that may go up.

    2) EVen if you fly in the low quality VCDs...don't you think people selling the product have to pay for their flight, maybe luggage/shipping and whatever it costs them in overheads to stock the product/storage space, etc?

When you settle for the low quality VCD, you get it way cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

Sola but are they really paying the moviemaker/provider ??

I dont think they are !!

Why are they not posting such contracts or notices on their websites to vouch that they are indeed liasing with the movimaker and not selling us illegal pirated copies ? I mean why arent the dvd's showing a label with a barcode etc

I feel like because they have cute websites doesnt make them genuine.

I rarely watch my movies twice and if I had a choice I would prefer to rent . I rarely go to the popular rentals like Blockbuster. There is a machine in the supermarket that rents US movies for a dollar a day !!

So Im really not a collector ..I just watch it for the spur of the moment !!

Infact I had to get one of those big cd holders to start holding the vcd's/Dvd's and I have started discarding the packages.
