Open Letter To AGN
Dear Members of the AGN,
I have sat back, and observed, how you continually meddle in affairs that have nothing to do with the Actors Guild.
How dare you tell a grown woman what to wear? Or even think that it makes any iota of sense to meet to discuss what a grown woman with a child was wearing on her own time, at a function that she was invited to?
The level of ignorance that has been displayed by this body in the past 2 years (which is when I first began paying attention) is mind boggling (to those of us who have minds that actually function. I hesitate to put you in this group, for obvious reasons)
I have a couple of simple questions that I need answers to. Your responses will help me determine how to further dialogue with you, and maybe make sense of that stance that you take in matters that apparently have nothing to do with the actors guild.
1. What is the purpose of the AGN?
2. Do you have a constitution?
3. Are you a legally recognized body?
4. Are the actors who make up the AGN membership entitled to private lives?
5. More importantly, how do people become members of the AGN?
I’ll stop here with these few questions, I am expecting answers, you can respond via PM, or if you cannot, my email
Thickmadam@yahoo.com is open for all emails.
I took the liberty of researching the functions of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), I hope you know what that is, (seeing as how all your actors aspire to conquer Hollywood, I’m sure you have a small idea)
Please, see below (I do beg your indulgence to pay attention to the bolded statements, AND PAY CLOSE PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE STATEMENT IN BLUE):
Screen Actors Guild is the nation’s largest labor union representing working actors.
Established in 1933, SAG has a rich history in the American labor movement, from standing up to studios to break long-term engagement contracts in the 1940s to fighting for artists’ rights amid the digital revolution sweeping the entertainment industry in the 21st century.
The Guild exists to enhance actors’ working conditions, compensation and benefits and to be a powerful, unified voice on behalf of artists’ rights.
SAG is Nationwide
With 20 branches nationwide, SAG represents nearly 120,000 actors who work in motion pictures, television, commercials, industrials, video games, Internet and all new media formats.
The question that comes to mind after reading the above, is: how is worrying about what a grown woman (I cannot reiterate enough that this is a grown woman we are talking about here) wears in her own spare time, in her own private life, what does that have to do with the AGN?
I am positively baffled that this is even an issue for you. Now, if you must address her dressing, I would like to humbly and respectfully request that you ask her to do something about the eyebrows and the excessive make-up (and please whisper to her that she doesn’t have to wear stockings with dresses like that, if she must, let it not be the shiny ones, and certainly not with open-toed shoes, BUT ONLY IF YOU MUST ADDRESS HER DRESSING)
Now, let me ask another set of questions that I DEMAND answers to, again, if you cannot respond on a public forum such as this, I do have a working email:
thickmadam@yahoo.com I will be most happy to correspond with you offline. But I demand answers to these questions:
1. What are you doing about the deplorable and absolutely horrible movies that I, as a loyal audience, am being tortured with? I cannot stress how much trauma this has caused me
2. What are you doing about the many accusations of sexual harassment that seem to abound in your industry?
3. What are you doing about the people who are called actors/actresses but know nothing about the craft? (Mr. President, I need you to answer that personally, and whatever answer you come up with, apply to yourself first)
4. What are you doing about the sad state of affairs of the industry? Namely the technical errors that are glaring to everyone else but obviously not to you? Do you not think that this will help the actors?
5. What is your position on the tendency to shoot movies and then break it up in 10 parts, each part having a different name?
6. What has been your greatest accomplishment since coming into office? (and please for the love of God do NOT include censoring Emeka Ike and Jim Iyke for fighting, that falls under the heading of two grown men and their private, personal business)
7. What are you doing about getting proper professionals to work with your actors/members?
8. Were you appointed to the offices you currently hold, or was an election held?
9. Do you have any idea what the AGN is supposed to do? Or is this another case of “Hmmm, this sounds like a prestigious thing, let me do it so that I can use it as a stepping stone to get contracts and loot some money?” Look, I’m just asking a couple of questions here, so no need to call a meeting on my behalf.
10. Should you not be concerned with the deplorable conditions under which your members have to work? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ABOUT THAT?
11. If you feel the need to interfere, why don’t you take on these “journalists” who interview your actresses and continually to sexually harass them? WHY?
12. When you sit in your office, and shuffle papers around, what are you actually doing? What are those papers that you are shuffling? Would they, perchance, be documents relating to how you would solve the problems rampant in the industry?
13. What are you doing about the fact that there is apparently an unfinished film village somewhere?
14. Why have you not pushed for a film village or somewhere you can build sets and have creative freedom?
15. Why have you not tried to wrest creative control away from marketers and distributors? Why have you allowed yourselves as actors be stifled by people who know not what they do?
I am demanding answers.
If you don’t achieve anything the rest of the term of your office, at least do this one thing for me, find a way to have the old movies preserved for future audiences, or find a way for me to get my hands on the older movies, (I would especially like to watch Rattlesnake and Glamour Girls, thank you very much).
I am deeply saddened that the AGN appears to be an ineffectual body, seemingly lacking direction and purpose.
Irritated Beyond Measure
