Actress, Jackie Appiah has over the years graced the screens with her captivating beauty in several roles in Ghanaian/Nigerian movies but recently starred in her first Sparrow Productions-made movie, which promises to bring out a whole new side to her acting. Many critics see Shirley Frimpong-Manso and her Sparrow Productions outfit as the breath of fresh air that is changing the face of Ghanaian films, one tape at a time. ‘Life and Living It’ and ‘scorned’ set the pace and the new one, ‘The Perfect Picture’ is set to follow suit. It is therefore not surprising that in spite of Shirley not using ‘regular’ actors in her previous productions; major actors like Jackie would want to join the ‘sparrow train’.


Jackie has expressed excitement about her role in ‘The Perfect Picture’ and working with Sparrow Productions. “The experience was great for me; it was a whole different experience working with Sparrow Productions because professionally they know what they are about. It was fun working with the girls (Lydia Forson and Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku”); they were brilliant and I love working with people who are always on point”.


Jackie even confesses that she lost weight for the movie in order to create a new and different look for herself that would match the movie. “I lost weight for the movie, because I wanted a different look for Sparrow”. She is particularly proud of Shirley Frimpong-Manso, contending that the success of Shirley proves the worth on a woman in today’s world.


According to Jackie, she fell in love with her character the moment she got the script. ‘I haven’t played any role like this before. The experience where couples are so in love but cannot get it up in bed is something that happens but we hardly talk about in Ghana. So I was like wow, I have to take up this role!” Jackie plays the role of Aseye, a young woman in a marriage that seems almost doomed from the beginning, because of her husband’s seeming sexual dysfunction. Jackie appears slim, sexy and set, I'm so happy I can now see her movies without bothering on layers of fats I think........ are left- they need to be anorexic

The trailer feels a bit corny for my tastes, but at the very least I appreciate the effort they seem to have put into injecting *some* sense of distinct personality into the promotional materials as opposed to these "screaming" previews.

It makes the movie feel like an event that one can't afford to miss rather than just another video. I might even check it out.

this movie is finally out. i watched it yesterday and i really loved the movie. about ten minutes into the movie it was boring and dull but it picked up afterwards, and i must say shirley has done a good job. it is not a 'loud' movie, it's about three female friends and their love life, the laughters, the tears, the fun, etc, i now understand why shirley wanted it to be released on valentine's day but couldn't beat the deadline. jackie has really slimmed down. as usual there was some flaws, but overall it was a nice movie.

i will keep this one in my few collections.
