So I bought this and Van Vicker's Friday Nights because I have an admitted bias against Ghanaian movies. None of the main actors - Van Vicker, Nadia, Jackie - have impressed me in the least. I find them generally stilted and incompetent, and strongly believe that they cannot carry a story by themselves. So I refused to watch the Beyonce's and princess Tyras - because of the titles, and because from the previews I saw, I was in for torture.

However, I finally decided that I could not crucify without evidence, So I bought two wholly Ghanaian movies so that I could give the final verdict and decide whether or not my boycott will continue or whether I have been won over. I have not seen Friday Nights, but I have seen Playboy, and here is my review.

For most of part 1 : What!!!!! Buahahahhahahahhahhahah!
I tend to generally avoid all the Nigerian aristo babes movies. I cannot stand that crap. So I tend to generally miss all the misguided fashion and bad wigs. I have no idea what Jackie's character and the lady she was supposed to have beef with were doing and wearing. It was so ridiculous. They looked silly. The acting was bad. I was sitting down like - I wasted money o, chei!!!
And for most of the first part, Majid was ridiculous too. Looked like a cheap pimp. The whole thing was just a mess.

However, after the ladies exited the scene for a while, and Majid was left with Nadia, I changed my mind - just a little. I still see Nadia as just a pretty face, please forgive me. She had her moments, but they were few and far between. Majid, on the other hand, beyond the pretty boy looks, has potential. HE is by no means there yet o!! But I see him being capable of great things if he digs deeper. There were moments when I saw potential stardom. So it was not a total waste of time. Majid I would probably keep my eye on to see him grow and expand his acting chops.

What about the story: It was alright. Just slightly below average. Watchable, nothing spectacular. Majid sleeps with woman, rips them off and disappears. Jackie's character was a girlfriend, and so was the other woman she was supposedly feuding with ( that feud was so ridiculous!!!!). Nadia plays another love interest whose father's fortune he was interested in. Can he get away with playing all those ladies? U are gonna have to watch and see ( if you can bear the ridiculous feuding and costumes and funny acting for most of the movie).

Do I recommend it? Not really. Watch it if you have nothing better to do.

Please try to see BEYONCE now, abeg. I heard P.Tyra was even better.....BEYONCE had its faults (which Nolly/Golly flick doesn't?)but it was not bad, actually.

This movie made me laugh.... and provided the comic relief I needed at the moment. The sound and picture quality were pretty good in my opinion, and for that alone, it was worth it for me. Majid was a standout ...as I expected, and I can say that he is becoming one of my favourite leading men, bar none. The leading ladies in the first part of the movie were just okay, and the lines they had to deliver were so verbose, they sounded like a bad Shakespearean attempt. It got to the point that my godsis and I would sometimes pause the movie and look at each other like "what in the verbose Heyull was that?" .....and Jackie ( a beautiful woman), was overaccessorized out the wazoo. For anyone in the DMV area that are familiar with the Patapsco indoor flea market in Baltimore...well, Jackie looked like she hit every single vendor, and got an item or accessory from them...down to the croc boots and wore eveeeeeery piece in the movie....i'm just saying

I'll give it a 6/10, 2 points for Majid, 2 points for the sound and picture people and the remaining points can be shared by everyone.......................

What????????????????????....Jackie Appiah is truly beautiful, I just was overwhelmed by everything she had on......and I mean she had on EVERYTHING.....I blame the wardrobe department, because she looked fierce in MY Story, rocking african/afrocentric gear.

Hey Funmo, have you seen the movie yet? If you haven't then I'll have to advice you that when you do try to sit about 5 feet away from your TV screen so that all the attires and makeup the ladies had on it won't blind your sight for a minute...at least it will give you enough chance to get through the storyline.
