The Minister for Chieftaincy and Culture, S.K.Boafo has appealed to Ghanaian actors and actresses to act more naturally to promote the tradition and culture of this country.
He said the showcase of tradition and culture would increase sale of Ghanaian movies and also improve the standard of living of the people.
The Minister made the appeal this week when he met members of the Akan Film Producers Association at his ministry.
Kwaku Twumasi, Vice President of the Association, said they were there to officially introduce members of the Association and to present their aims and objectives to the Minister.
The Association, which is based in Kumasi, is made up of actors, actresses and producers. Its objective is to promote the Akan language and culture through the film industry
The Minister commended the Association for embarking on such a bold step. He assured the members that they have uncountable fans outside the country who are desperate to purchase more of their films, urging them to act more naturally just as their Nigerian counterparts.
He encouraged them to continue their good work by acting in accordance with the tradition and culture of the land because "most foreigners who purchase the movies or visit the country are very much interested in our culture".
Aboagye, General Secretary of the group, stated that the Association was very much determined to produce more educative films for the consumption of the public.
He appealed to Ghanaians, especially corporate bodies to come to the aid of the Association in terms of funds to enable them produce films on social issues, provide scholarships for actors and actresses, acquire new digital devices to improve their audio visuals, among others
In response, Mr Boafo said the governments had already been working things out with some banks to assist certain recognizable organizations in the country.
