Alice my first lady!!!
A new movie/actress/director or is it? I do not know but the lady is good. She reminds me of Patience O and she will be perfect in a movie along side Nkem Owoh. She is articulate and a good director. The story line is the same old story we see.... a lady who is a village trouble maker and fights with almost everyone. If you like Patience o and Nkem movies, u sure will like this flick.
Watch am and tell us what you also think of it….I thought it was funny and interesting.

WAtched this movie today and absolutely loved it (8/10). Its a 2006 release and the female director and write is called Chinny Aheneku (who plays Alice)
If you love village movies you would definately love this one. Alice who is one of two wives living in the village with her husband (Amadi), one daughter (played by Nkechi Thelma Chukwu), 2 other stepkids and husbands second wife, causes comotion all over village, She wants to fight anybody and anyone who offends her, in the market, in the street , She even faught the reverend father of her church. She was too feisty, very much like Patience Ozorkor and her convincing "witch" ways.
This lady is not only a great female script writer and director but a very good actress - if she continues with village movies like this Tchidi has stiff competition. She is like a younger version of Patience Ozorkor - very good looking and will charm you with her beauty but evil inside and carniving and manupulative to the core. Actually Patience is also in this movie (as well as Sam Loco) - but she plays alice's aunty in law - her husbands aunty and she hated Alice. Though its an english movie there is a lot of igbo spoken in this movie, you would think you were watching an Igbo movie, but i loved it and understood it nonetheless cos it was subtitled. . (i understand inanu=do you hear me, biko-please etc etc)
Sam Loc (like bob manuel odukwu) as you can imagine will spit their igbo in a heart beat as he did in this movie - he is too hilarious. He coughed through out the movie, i think he was really sick.
The was one lil girl like that (maybe 10 to 12 yrs old) her name is Nkechi Thelma Chukwu, who impressed me a lot. She could easily give Sharon Ezeamaka a run for her money, cos he is a very good child actress and very articulate, she acts very natural. She played Alice's daughter and actually looked like her a bit.
Could someone tell me this a guy called Joseph Okechukwu plays Aamadi the husband of Alice, if that is same actor we know as King Joe (who also starred in "Butterly" with Ramsey, Genny and Maureen). If it is then he looked slightly different, He has grown bigger and looks more matured.,
ps:
After watching this movie, So far for child actresses Nkechi Thelma Chukwu, is currently on my top list, next to the girl who stars in the movie "Prophecy" with Genny, and the other young girl who plays OmoT daughter in Blood Sisters and finally Sharon. They young girls try better than the young boys. I guess cos they are more matured.
i think this thread should be moved to EMG side, cos i dont think its really an igbo movie, its an igbo setting but all english speakers can watch it too and enjoy it.

Yes to the highlighted above and I agree with you totally, the 'Engli-Igbo' made the film a delight to watch whether you understand Igbo or not. It's one of those films you would like to watch over and over again.
And to throw more light on Chinny Ahaneku, she acted in quite a few films set in Enugu, around the late nineties and early noughties, before delving into writing and directing. Can't remember any of their names at the top of my head right now. Anyway, you need to watch True Feelings (1&2). That's also her film; I think it was a 2003 film, can't quite remember... anyway it was gooooood. She's really good at what she does and I hope she will be given a chance to grow in the male-dominated Nollywood environment.
Chi-babe, more grease to your elbow!!!

I just started watching this movie. I am enjoying it so far. Very funny movie.
King Joe is so handsome and tall. Chinny Ahaneku is a great actress. Joe & Chinny had wonderful chemistry. Sam Loco & Patience O always deliver their best.

I saw this movie late last year. I quite enjoyed most of it. I was almost sure that the little girl Nkechi was actually Chinny's daughter in real life. the resemblance is uncanny. The end dragged a bit sha but all in all, good movie. not the best ive ever seen but i think Chinny is going places, at this rate.
also, i agree that this should be removed form the igbo movies section...its def not an igbo movie. igbo setting, yes. igbo characters, yes. but i agree that non-igbo speakers will also find it enjoyable. yeah, and i must say that if nollywood ever needs a new patience ozokwor, as in if she's on holiday or something, then i think they'll find it in Chinny. she's just so natural. and i admire her for her multiple roles as scriptwriter, director and actor...in the same movie. she try jare.

Exactly, they look so alike. I loved this film sooo much it's a pity the lady (Alice)doesn't tend to act much, she's very talented.

Did i already mention, I watched this movie again tonight and i give a 9.75/10 . Love it Love it Love it.
And i am so loving King Joe, he such a nice gentleman. Is he married
This Alice character makes Patience Ozorkwor look like a saint - she was so evil and so believably unbearable, i startedto have headaches for Amadi and all the Wahala he went thru Ah ah - i mean this womans evil wahala was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much - poor 2nd wife (another good actress and very pretty - i felt so much for her).
To say Alice (Chinny Ahaneku) character is wicked and evil is an understatement. If you dont own this movie, it wont be money wasted at all if you buy it. Its surely a collectors item. This lady Chinny Ahaneku, needs to be heard - she is very good yet so low key - i didnt even know of her till i watched this movie.
I am so loving her right now and willl support anything she comes out with. If you are looking for a nice movie with believable and convincing actors this movie is it. Loved it. I just love women who are making a name for themselves in this africa movie industry, its so inspiring and i am very proud of their excellent work.
ps: i just love the funny accent the igbos mention english names sometimes "alice " aka Aaaaaaaaalyceeeee" - love it.
Patience is good at that eg. Clara aka " claaaaaaaaaarah

Yeah...Chinny and a lot of the other actors were extremely believable. I was totally feeling them esp Alice [chinny]. At a point i thought i was in the movie...i jumped up to slap Chinny then realised that i was in my living room! and it was damn funny. they werent forcing us to laugh or be angry or anything. emotions just kept flowing according to what i was watching.
i also loved the second wife; she looked so innocent! my heart was with her all the way.poor Amadi...Chinny sure was a pain in the damn rectum!
Yes...this is a collector's item all the way. I watched a friend's copy before, but now, I'm gonna look forit and by my own copy. no regrets.

I finished this movie last night. It was such a great movie. Chinny did a great job. Her insults were too funny.
I am in love with King Joe. He needs to have more leading roles. He had such great chemistry with both wives.

i watched this movie yesterday, boy did i laff my head off.i'm telling you that actress that acted as alice is a superstar in my book. after a while, i began to wonder what she is like in real life, cos she just convinced me with her acting skills.and the little girl that acted as her daughter(angela) spoke original English language and acted soo well.
my fav scenes were when she went to the school to beat up a teacher and put sand inside his mouth. and when she set the village masquerade on fire.i was laffing sooooooooo hard that it started to hurt.
kudos! to chinny. infact, she's the upcoming patience ozokwor. like atlakos said, her own evil makes mama G look like an angel.
overall, it's a must have in your house.just watch it when you want to laugh.
