A Liberian Movie Star Mendea E. Martin has spoken of plans to up-grade the movie industry in the country.
Ms. Martin said for too long, the movie industry in Liberia had been dormant for which talented Liberian movie stars have left the country to seek greener pastures.
She disclosed that she has made contacts with her international counterparts who have agreed to help improve the country's movie industry.
Ms. Martin spoke to reporters at the weekend following a meeting among the Liberian Movie Union (LIMU).
The Liberian Movie star who produced the first international Liberian movie, "Tomorrow Never Die", indicated that with the help of her international counterparts and Liberians she would ensure that Liberian movies are produced in Liberia.
Ms. Martin who is also vying for the LIMU Presidency pointed out that it is unfortunate for Liberians to travel to other countries to produce their movies, noting, "under a Mardea Martin administration, this will not happen. We will produce our movies in Liberia."
She stressed the need for Liberians to give their fullest support to LIMU in order for it to put Liberia on the international movie map.
The Liberian movie star stated that education through entertainment can also enhance the peace process in the country and as such it needs the support of the Transitional Government.
Ms. Martin expected to launch two new movies, "Dgo-Dogo" and "Don't Cry for Me".
She admonished Liberian actors and actresses to unite and put LIMU first in their endeavors, so that Liberia would be recognized on the international movie map.
