EMPTY LECTURE ROOM
Since Pa J’s wedding, there has been some changes about Grafik, he now mingles a little with his fellow students. Though he is mostly quiet and while the students are happy about this new change they still couldn’t figure out the reason for his new attitude. Angeleyes and Okestra are now seeing each other, though his friends have now nicknamed him Garri-boy because he offered her Garri sometime ago. Funmibaby wants to take it easy with Obude though he would rather their relationship begins at once. Today they are all gathered in an empty classroom chatting away
ANGELEYES: (Speaking to Grafik!) Presidooooo!!! I happy say you join us today o!
OKESTRA: Not only you Angy, everybody is surprised, it’s like something happened to him at Pa J’s wedding
OBUDE: So does this mean you will stop sitting under that your tree now?(Grafik looks at them again and smiles without saying anything… he has been thinking about his Village girlfriend BIGMOMMA all these while.. Funmibaby feels sorry for him, especially now that everybody’s attention is now on him)
FUNMIBABY: Why are you asking him that, we should allow him mix freely with us so he would be comfortable (Angeleyes cuts in)
ANGELEYES: Oya Presido give us one of your songs, and don’t even think of saying no because we won’t take it (He smiles again and spoke)
GRAFIK: Do you all know the chorus of Fela’s Suffering and Smiling? (The Students answered a big YES!, happy to hear this he begins) EVERYDAY MY PEOPLE DEY INSIDE BUS

KHAMILEON’S ROOM
Khamileon has visited the prostitute EMERALD twice since the last time. He is usually tired after his time with her. She is actually a nice girl and has gotten to like him very much; she reduced the price from 3000naira to 2000naira, a knock on his door jolted him up. His father walks in and sat on his bed.
MR VINCE: Hmmm!!! Our movie guy, it seems I have to make appointments with you these days to be able to see you
KHAMILEON: (Laughing) Its not like that dad, I am just trying to finish so many things at the same time.
MR VINCE: I see, but I hope your project is coming on fine.
KHAMILEON: (Smiles) you don’t have to worry about that, my project is coming on fine and I am almost done.
MR VINCE: Good!.... (He looks at him and smile) How is Obariba?
KHAMILEON: (Smiles) She is fine dad! Very fine!
VINCE: I can see both of you are very close, reminds me of your mother and I when we were dating
KHAMILEON: How did you propose to mum?
VINCE: Ha! You are already thinking about marriage? (He nods his head) why the rush? Why don’t you take your time to know each other even better, because Marriage is a Contract that must never be broken no matter what! It is a spiritual union and even when the court grants couples divorce, the two spirits still stays as one in the spiritual realm. That is why people must take the time to really know each other before marriage.
Khamileon was silent and listened to his father properly, then he finally spoke
KHAMILEON: Father, I have given this a serious thought and Obariba is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. As soon as I start working, I want to marry her… still I want to prove my love to her by engaging her….. so tell me how you proposed to mum! His father looked at him for what seems like eternity, and its obvious his son is serious and then he smiled
MR VINCE: Obariba is a good girl and you have my blessing. But don’t you think you should tell your mum before proposing?
KHAMILEON: (Jokingly) That is your wife, you do the job. At least I have told you.
MR VINCE: Hey Khami! Don’t you joke about my wife or I’ll kick your butt (that minute PECULIER burst into the room without knocking)
GREEN HOUSE
Bolanle and Blackbutterfly would rather be studying but its obvious 4Satat wont allow them so they settle for gist instead. Blackbutterfly and Bolanle were munching on the Meat brought back from Pa J's wedding while 4Satat was telling her own version of the wedding
4SATAT: I don't think Pa J was too happy with the wedding because his eyes were on me all the time. (The other two gave each other a look and continued eating in silence) I even felt a bit sorry for him. Who knows what type of Juju that stupid Abike has given the poor guy
BOLANLE: Ahaa!! Why are you insulting Abike now?? What has the poor girl done to you, and by the way don't you ever get tired?
4SATAT: Abeg keep your mouth shut! What do you know about feelings of the heart? Have you ever fallen in love before? Maybe you should first fall in love and then have another girl snatch your guy then you would understand where I am coming from
BOLANLE: Thats your own weird version, because everybody else knows that Abike was Pa J's first girl before every other girl started running after him because he was getting famous (Angry, 4Satat walks over to them and snatch the bowl of fried meat)
BLACKBUTTERFLY: 4Satat shey na you and Bolanle get trouble, wetin come concern the meat wey I dey eat now? (not even listening to her 4Satat faced Bolanle)
4SATAT: Bolanle, shey na me you dey call Man Snatcher? (Its obvious Bolanle is not prepared for her trouble. She got up, cleaned her hands and left)
BLACKBUTTERFLY:What type of rubbish is this now? Why cant we all get along like it used to be.
4SATAT:But you were here when she was calling me a man snatcher! Now tell me, how would you feel if another girl snatched Medden from you?
OTUNBA SOLA'S RECIDENCE
OTUNBA'S BEDROOM
It is obvious that Otunba Sola is having a rather restless sleep. He is turning restlessly and talking in his sleep
O. SOLA: Iro! .... Moni iro ni!..... My own money..... I say this boy cant take all... Everything!!!!! Yeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Motikuoooooo! (He woke up with a start! Cold sweat all over his body, he looked around and realized he has been dreaming. He got up, put on his robe and went downstairs to the living room. His wife Enrima and daughter Obariba were at the dining table... Enrima was actually walking away when she saw him)
ENRIMA: Ha! Otunba so you are finally up, I was just coming to wake you up because breakfast is ready and the table is set. (Obariba cuts in)
OBARIBA: Good morning daddy! (Seeing his family in such a happy mood throws him off balance. How could he talk about his dream, especially with Obariba around)
O.SOLA: Good morning my dear (he also greeted his wife and sat with them to eat. In no time they notice that something is troubling him, Obariba spoke first)
OBARIBA: Daddy are you ok? Cause you don't look your usual self
O. SOLA: Am fine my dear (he managed a dry smile, his wife gave him a hard stare and finally spoke)
ENRIMA: Ok Otunba, what is it?? (They were actually surprised that Otunba hesitated a bit, before finally saying what was on his mind)
O.SOLA: Please I don't want you people to take this the wrong way..... I just had a bad dream.... (He looks at them again to make sure this wont lead to any trouble) that Obariba's Khamileon stole all my money! (There was total silence in the room. Obariba stood up, gave her father a stern look)
OBARIBA: I am respecting you as my father if not, I could easily run off with Khamileon to London and Marry him there without having to deal with all this. But I guess my respect is not enough, you are determined to use me for your business, by encouraging me to marry the son of the so called governor to be. I am really getting tired of all this (She walked away angrily
ENRIMA: Otunba, you better have a good explanation for this, because I am tired of you making my only daughter sad. (she ran after Obariba, while Otunba sat alone talking to himself)
O.SOLA: Run away to London! .....If I didn't put money in her account where would she get the money for the trip?? .......If I didn't open an account for her in London, where would she get money to survive in London?? It's so easy to spend my money, yet she doesnt want to marry the aspiring governor's son so I can make more money for her to spend! ... Instead of my wife to join me, she is supporting a plan by that Lizard of a boy to steal my Money....... Yes, I know her father set me up in business..... I know her father helped me to become rich, but he also didn't encourage me to throw away the money! So why would I dream about Khamileon stealing all my money and keep quiet???
CAMPUS
CAFETERIA
The guys has just finished a class and are at the Cafeteria taking their lunch. Medden paid for all of them, and while they are enjoying the food, they joked about the the source of Medden's money
OBUDE: Medden you know say I no go mind if you decide to feed me for the rest of this semester. But na were u always dey get this money from?
PETE: Thats true, Medden I hope say u no dey tief o! (both of them burst out laughing)
MEDDEN: Typical Naija people. If person no buy, dem go call am stingy, if persin buy dem go call am tief. You know what, this is the last time I will spend my money on you guys!
OBUDE: No be so my guy! ....Like say we no be your friend we for no ask (Pete cuts in)
PETE: Abeg fashi dat side Medden, na joke we dey. Ehen! Wetin come happen between you and that Village chick for Pa J wedding??
MEDDEN: (Surprised) So you saw me and Thressa??.... Anyway I took her to a bush over there between some trees and showed her what Real Lagosians are like (The other two looked at each other and smiled).. Come and see her screaming
OBUDE: Na your mouth you use??
MEDDEN: Why do you want to know??
PETE: Na wish kind question be that Medden??... What else could you use to make a girl scream? (Medden gave him a dirt look and was about to get real angry, but decides against it)
MEDDEN: Whatever!.. All I know is that the girl is madly in love with me
OBUDE: So I should tell BlackButterfly that you don't want her anymore
MEDDEN: And that will be your last day on Earth (the other two burst out laughing) By the way I have something really bugging me
PETE: What is it??
MR VINCE'S RECIDENCE
THE LIVING ROOM
OLAAFOL is having a little ladies night with her closest friends AUST-NNE and NTB. She had prepared a nice meal and her friends are full of compliments
NTB: No wonder you have such a nice family. Which man wouldn't be hooked on such a delicious meal
OLAAFOL: (Teasing) so you are saying thats the only reason my husband is staying with me
AUST-NNE: No she is saying you are a superb cook (they all burst out laughing)
OLAAFOL: Well I hope you girls are not teasing me sha!
AUST-NNE:Am definitely going to take the recipe to show you how serious I am
NTB: (Changing the subject) by the way where is Khamileon?? I have not seen him in a long while
OLAAFOL: (Smiles) He is inside his room with his heartthrobe
AUST-NNE: Isn't she the daughter of your boss NTB??
NTB: He is not my boss, he just owns the private hospital I work in. Yes Obariba is his only daughter the other kids are in the states and wont come back despite his pleas for them to return to run his vast empire.
AUST-NNE: Thats so sad!
NTB: If I were in their shoes I would do the same because the man is something else!
OLAAFOL: Ha! It's our future in-law you are talking about like that o! and Khami has not even told me all this. He prefers to share with his father
AUST-NNE: Khami and the girl are already talking about marriage??
OLAAFOL: Left to them, they would be married already
NTB:There is really nothing to worry about, the Otunba's wife is a very nice lady and I hear Obariba is like her mother
OLAAFOL:Yes they are both very nice. I mean I have visited their house twice, but the Otunba was not around
AUST-NNE: So why didn't he return the visit?
OLAAFOL:The wife actually came to visit once
NTB: Don't even bother yourself with that man, he is too busy chasing money, and not that he pays his workers regularly. I am even thinking of leaving that hospital soon as I find a good one.
Their chatting was cut short by an ear-piecing scream coming from the direction of Khamileon's room and the ladies ran towards there.
CAMPUS (NIGHT)
OKESTRA took ANGELEYES to the school gate to buy some Suya and they are now walking back. He likes her a lot and wants to take her to bed so bad. But till now, nothing has happened. As they walked back, he prays he could follow her back to her room.
OKESTRA: Angy I wont lie I am so happy that you are my girl.
ANGELEYES: (Smiles) You are a nice guy Okestra and I am happy that I met you
OKESTRA:But why did it take us so long to hook up?
ANGELEYES: Well I believe it is destined to be this way (Their hands still held together he noticed that they are walking towards the girls hostel and she is not objecting.... his hearts beats faster. Finally he is going to sleep with her)
OKESTRA:Where is your room mate FUNMIBABY?
ANGELEYES: She went home to be back tomorrow ..why??
OKESTRA: No just asking, because both of you are always together
His heart is racing faster, everything is working just right.... He is already undressing her with his eyes and before you know it the bulge in his pants starts getting bigger. Thank Heavens it is night and she couldn't see it. He doesn't want anything that would spoil this special night that has been ordained for both of them. They reached her room and she brought out the key and opens her door..... at that moment Medden appears from nowhere
MEDDEN: Ehen! Okestra, I beg come na you I dey look for all day!
Okestra tries to enter the open door quickly as if he didn't hear. Quick as a lightning Medden grabs him from behind.
OKESTRA: (Almost pleading with his eyes) Medden lets make it tomorrow, as you can see I am on a date.
MEDDEN: O boy! That can wait till another day, this is very serious o!
OKESTRA: (Trying not to make a scene in front of Angeleyes) Medden I beg you in the name of..... (Angeleyes is inside the room, at the door staring at him)
ANGELEYES:Okestra why Don't you go with your friend, I will see you another time. (She managed a smile) Goodnight. (She closed the door..... Okestra turns around ready to punch Medden)
MEDDEN: I said I need your help and you want to fight me?? Do you know how serious this is?? (Not knowing what to do he puts down his hand and follows him)
OKESTRA: Finally after all this time I get one golden opportunity to sleep with Angeleyes and like an evil spirit you just appear from thin air to spoil it.
MEDDEN: If you know what is going on, you wont even be talking about Angeleyes, I was about to tell Pete and Obude before, but decided against it because you are the smartest person I know. (He sat on the step of a building and Okestra sat with him)
OKESTRA: So what is this problem??
MEDDEN: My THING doesn't work anymore!
KOLAWOLE ROYAL HOSPITAL
Vince, Olaafol, Aust-Nne, Obariba were standing at the waiting room with apprehension. Khamileon has been rushed to the hospital, like lightening he has been rushed to the theater where the doctors are operating on him. It seems like eternity to the waiting people tears flowing freely from Olaafol and Obariba's eyes while Vince and Aust-Nne are doing their best to console them when its obvious they are almost in tears themselves.. That minute Dr NTB appears ...... You could see the fright on their faces.. Olaafol and Obariba rushes to her
OLAAFOL: Doctor where is my son??
NTB: We have lost ....
BACK AT THE CAMPUS
Not understanding what he meant Okestra speaks up
OKESTRA: What do you mean by your thing doesn't work?
MEDDEN: (Looks at him properly, making sure he is not ridiculing him)My THING (pointing downwards) my John Thomas, My little Man doesn't work anymore
Okestra doesn't know whether to laugh or take this serious, but the bewilded look and fright in his eyes tells him Medden is not joking.
OKESTRA: How do you know it doesn't work anymore
MEDDEN: (getting annoyed and frustrated he almost scream) because it belongs to me and I know it doesn't work anymore!!!!!!!
OKESTRA: (Seeing him in this shape Okestra decides to take it easy with him) I understand you, but you have to tell me more to be able to give you any sort of advice
MEDDEN: Okey I tried to sleep with one girl ..(Okestra cuts in)
OKESTRA: Who??
MEDDEN: (Cuts in angrily) It doesn't matter who the girl is, just listen! .. Anyway I tried another girl and it still did not get up or work... and then Blackbutterfly. Can you believe it didn't work with my future wife?? Though I just pretended I was tired after satisfying her
OKESTRA: With your tongue I guess (Medden gave him a stern look, but Okestra didn't mind at least he is getting back at him for ruining his night with Angeleyes)..... Well Don't you think you just need some rest? I mean maybe in two or three days time you will be fine again
MEDDEN: Three days!.... This has been going on for one week now and there is no improvement.
OKESTRA: One week????? ..... Hmmm maybe you should see a doctor o!
MEDDEN: And tell the doctor what??
BACK AT THE HOSPITAL
Eyes almost bulging out of their socket Olaafol spoke
OLAAFOL: Doctor you have lost WHAT?????
DR. NTB: We have lost too much blood, so we carried out a blood transfusion, we didn't have enough time to ask any of you for blood since we have his blood type in our blood bank.
OBARIBA: How is my baby doing??
DR. NTB: The surgery was successful and he is in the recovery room. I am sorry for keeping you all waiting for so long, but I just want to make sure everything went fine. Olaafol was all tears, but this time there was a huge sign of relief on her face. Her husband Vince is holding her tight, patting her back. Obariba too couldn't stop crying and Aust Nne holds her patting her too. Then she spoke
OBARIBA: Doctor can we see him,
DR. NTB: Yes darling, you all can come and see him
They all walked behind Ntb to the recovery room where Khamileon is laying peacefully. He actually looks like someone having a nice sleep than somebody who just had surgery. He opens his eyes... looks around, the faces of his beloved staring at him with love.. he smiles and goes back to sleep
ONDO TOWN
The old dusty bus stopped at the bus garage and Grafikdon stepped out. He flagged down a taxi and gave him directions. The taxi drives to an old secondary school and packed. Grafik paid the driver, stepped and and walks towards the compound. It is Saturday and the school was empty. As he gets very close to the building, Bigmomma stepped out and ran towards him. They embrace. Both of them were happy to see each other. They sat down and Bigmomma brought out a wrapped clothe from a plastic bag. She unwrapped the cloth and brought out a hot bowl of pounded yam and Egusi Soup. She brought out a bottle of watter and told Grafik to wash his hand. Then he began eating.. This is how a proper African woman should be he thought....
BIGMOMMA: I hope you like it, because I prepared it specially for you.
GRAFIK: This is delicious..... please join me (she smiles wash her hands and joins him) Have you told your parents about me??
BIGMOMMA: I have told my mother, but I am afraid to tell me father o! (she smiles)
GRAFIK: Don't worry I am about to graduate, once that is done I will bring my people to come and pay your dowry
BIGMOMMA: But your people Don't normally marry from our side, Don't you think that will be a problem??
GRAFIK: No my father wont mind, as long as I am happy. (They finished eating and chatted some more) Where are your Parents now?
BIGMOMMA:They went to the farm, my mother covered for me, she told my father that she is sending me to the Market. That means I will go to the market after you leave. (He smiles and held her hand. They walked to the store of the classroom, and before you know it they start undressing each other. This time Grafik is not stiff anymore he takes charge and makes her feel like a real woman.
