INTRODUCTION:

The voice of the speaker accompanied the following writings.
The voice belongs to an adult male; the voice is rich with Nigerian accent. It resembles the voice of a middle age history teacher in college.
ONE OF THE GREATEST NATION IN WEST AFRICA.
NIGERIA
Nigeria is a land of great variety in its scenery and people.
Nigeria’s landscape ranges from hot, rainy swamps and forest to dry sandy reaches, grassy plains and Rocky Mountains.
{The pictures of different people from different works of life and from different ethnic groups and the pictures of different landscapes of Nigeria accompanied the voice and words}
More than (120) a hundred and twenty million people live in Nigeria and they are divided in to (250) two hundred and fifty ethnic groups. And the country has suffered greatly as a result of its ethnic diversity.
SIR ABOUBAKAR TAFAWA BELEWA, was the federation first prime minister and he remain on that position when Nigeria gained independence on October –1 –1960.
(The picture of the late Prime Minister appeared on the background.)
Ethnic groups within the regions of the Nigeria federation continued to compete for power, while at the same time different groups fought for control of the federal government.
The southerners (example the Igbo) resented the rule of the Hausa of the north.
Such ethnic rivalries would lead to assassinations, civil war, military revolts, and coup d `etas n counter coups.
(Pictures of past conflicts and coup and counter coup appeared on the background.

They were dressed in the plain green colored uniform of the Nigerian Military Force.
The most feared iron man in the Nigerian Army COLONEL PATRICK led the group.
The (48) forty-eight military men stopped few yards to a grand palace.
Each man fell to the ground in the shadows to take a cover position.
The camera rolled from the men to the grand palace.
It was a beautiful two-storey building.
Beautiful fluorescent bulbs were on; to a passer by the palace has the looks of a Brazilian lantern.
The fences of the building were high, and the gate was broad and high.
At the top of the fence and gate were electric barbed wires.
(PRESIDENTIAL PALACE) Was boldly written in white on top of the gate.
The camera rolled from the palace to the group of military men on the ground few yards away.
Their leader (Colonel Patrick) was dressed in the uniform of a colonel he was the only one standing.
He was a broad, tall and large man:
His complexion is that of coal.
His face is broad with a nose as large as Okonkwo’s nose. (The hero in Chinua Achebe’s THINGS FALL APART.)
He stood behind a tree.
He was heavily armed as his men.
His hand reached down to his military belt (that was bracing a large pot belly).
A telescope was clipped to his belt.
He unclipped it and raised it towards his eyes.
He spied on the building through his telescope.

INTER-CUT
(BEDROOM OF THE PRESIDENT)
The president ALPHA BUHARI and the First Lady MADAME BUHARI were cuddled affectionately on the posh master bed in the magnificent master bedroom.
They were fast asleep.
It was still raining heavily out side.
The rain poured and poured.
The sound of thunder echoed in the room.
And the bright, sharp and quick flash of lightning penetrated the windowpane and flashed in to the room.
Madame Buhari was restless in her sleep, she started moving her body to and fro, and she was perspiring. Heavy beads of sweat settled on her forehead.
FLASH BACK
{The dream of Madame Buhari}
(The pictures appearing on the screen are a little bit faded, to show the spectators that it’s a dream.)
[In her dream]:
She was lying on the floor of the bathroom with her naked husband and her two children; the children were crying. A big broad man dressed as a colonel stood in front of her husband with a pistol in his right arm.
Without hesitation the man shot her husband in the forehead…
The picture faded out completely to be replaced by another picture.
(Her Second Dream)
She was standing in a church in front of a big clock; the hands of the clock were turning rapidly…
(Next Image)
She was sitting on the floor in the same Presidential palace, dead bodies were scattered all around her the body of the colonel that shot her husband was among the dead in the room, a young man in his mid twenties with blood all over his body was lying on her lap, the man was dieing slowly.
Madame Buhari was crying: “Please don’t die Michael, please Michael don’t die please…you know that you are my only son please…Please my son don’t go and leave me alone…The young man took one last breath and passed away…
She screamed.
END OF FLASHBACK
(In the bedroom)
Madame Buhari (Screaming)
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Her husband jumped out of his sleep, he shook her awake…
PRESIDENT ALPHA BUHARI
What is wrong my sweet heart? What’s wrong? Huh Honey what’s wrong?
Madame Buhari (Opened her eyes)
I had a bad dream Your Excellency, a very bad dream…
Tears were running from her eyes.
President (Holding her close to his body)
It’s all right sweet heart, it’s all right, and it’s just a dream okay?
She finally calmed down and rested her head on her husband’s chest.
DISSOLVE TO:
(PRESIDENTIAL BEDROOM)
They were still cuddled in bed; the President seems to be in deep thoughts.
Madame Buhari (Mumbling)
Honey…honey?
President
Yes-sweet heart
Madame Buhari
Are you asleep?
President
No honey I am awake.
Madame Buhari
I am trying to sleep but I can’t.
President
Me too honey
Madame Buhari
Do you believe in the rumors and in what Major General Haruna said? Because as of me I believe in all he said. He is the most trusted among your friends.
President
But it’s hard to believe that a palace coup is possible, the people in the regime are all friends of mine. I just don’t believe that people are planning a coup against my regime.
Madame Buhari
Do you believe that there is an art of reading a man’s mind from his eyes? Do you think all those that smile to you are your friends? Have you ever heard the word white teeth black heart?
President
I understand what you are trying to say but in this case its just different.
Madame Buhari
I hope so Your Excellency the President of the republic of Nigeria, it’s just that if something happens to you I will never forgive myself.
President
Come on sweet heart, nothing absolutely will happen to me. I believe in God and I believe that I am under his protection and I believe that my plans are to liberate this country, wipe out ethnic and tribal oppression and tensions, and then lead the country to democracy. So don’t worry my sweet heart nothing will happen to us okay?
Madame Buhari (closing her eyes)
I hope and pray so…
Inter cut
(Few yards from the Presidential palace.)
The Colonel removed the telescope from his eyes and clipped it back to his belt.
He took out his walkie-talkie to communicate with his second in command:
{CAPTAIN BABANGIDA.
The captain’s mission was to attack and capture the national TV and Radio station.}
The Colonel pressed the Press-To-Talk button on the walkie-talkie and spoke…
Colonel Patrick
Delta 2, delta 2, for Delta 1, over?
EXT. FEW YARDS FROM RADIO STATION. NIGHT.
{The following writing appeared below the screen.}
FEW YARDS FROM THE NATIONAL TELEVISION AND RADIO BROADCASTING STATION
Delta 2 Captain Babangida) and his boys were lying on the ground in the shadows opposite the big building.
He had fifty men on his command.
The fifty men were all in cover around him.
Each man was lying on the ground with his gun pointing towards the opposite building.
His men were dressed in full military attire armed with AK47s, G3s and Kalashnikovs.
ANGLE ON:
(The Captain and his men as they watched the big building.)
The camera moved towards the building…
It was a beautiful four-storey building.
The wall of the fence was high with barbed wire on the top.
In the compound was a security tower.
Two armed men were manning the security tower.
They men were armed with an LMG (Light machine gun) mounted on sacs filled with sand to cover the guards in case of an attack.
They trained their eyes on the big and bright security light on the tower as it revolves to and fro.
IN THE COMPOUND.
Fourteen tense military personals patrolled the compound with their infantry riffles.
The camera rolled back to the position of the Captain and his boys.
Colonel Patrick (Filtered)
Delta 2…Delta 2 for Delta 1 over?
The Captain moved his walkie-talkie towards his mouth.
He pressed the press-to-talk button and responded to the call.
Captain Babangida

Captain Babangida
Set and ready to go, over?
Colonel Patrick (Filtered)
Let the cat out of the bag in 15 seconds... over and out.
Inter-cut
{Few Yards from the Presidential palace.}
Colonel Patrick slowly turned around to view the position of his boys.
They were lying on the ground in the dark with their guns ready for action.
The colonel pointed his left hand towards his left:
Fifteen men moved to the direction of his left.
He pointed his right hand towards the direction of his right:
Fifteen men moved to advance on the direction of his right.
He pointed his two hands in front of him:
Then the remaining fifteen men followed him as he took the lead towards the presidential palace.
After the dispatch.
The different groups took their different advancing positions towards the presidential palace.
The first group bypassed to the back of the presidential palace.
The second group bypassed the security cameras and advanced towards the right and left side of the palace.
The last group led by the colonel himself moved towards the gate of the compound.
They squatted several yards away from the security cameras at the front gate.
Colonel Patrick clipped a silencer to the mouth of the barrel of his pistol.
He took aim at one of the security cameras and fired.
He repeated the action and fired all the five revolving security cameras at the gate. With a puff of smoke the security cameras went off one after the other.
Back fence of residence.
The first group of fifteen men crept silently to the fence.
They used ropes to climb the wall.
At the top of the fence they used pliers to cut-off the barbed wires at the top of the fence.
They jumped in to the compound after cutting the wires.
Inside compound
They started creeping towards the front of the house, silently and poised.
Five armed soldiers of the President on patrol in the compound were doing their fifth patrol to the back yard.
The intruders saw them coming and took cover in the shadows and waited.
The five men walked steadily and confidently pointing their torchlights all around.
The men mumbling noisily arrived beside the men in the shadows.
They were sprung upon by the Colonels’ men.
The sound of neck breaking and sharp blade entering raw flesh was heard as the five men were taking care of.
The bodies of the five men were dragged to the shadows.
SIDE OF FENCE.
The second group was already up the fence cutting the barbed wires at the top.
They jumped in to the compound and joined the first group.
The two groups became one and moved towards the front part of the house.
The remaining seven military soldiers on guard were taken up by total surprise.
They were sneaked upon, one after the other…
Necks cracked as they break.
Their blood pumped out as the invaders silently grabbed them from the back and pushed the blade of their knives into their fragile throats.
The boys of the Colonel carried out their blood bath of a mission very swiftly.
SERGEANT OKORO PATRICK…A short man with a small round face and a large potbelly was among the first and second group of Colonel Patrick in the compound of the resident of the President.
His three sergeant stripes were exposed on the top left sleeve of his uniform and that was the only thing that differentiates him from the other men.
The sergeant took out his radio to communicate with the Colonel outside.
He brought the mouthpiece closer to his mouth and pressed the press-to-talk button.
Sergeant Okoro
First round clear and all soldiers in place.
OPPOSITE THE GATE (OUTSIDE)
The colonel held the radio set as he spoke…
Colonel Patrick
Okay stay strap I am on my way…I repeat stay strap I am on my way.
He turned to his men…
FIRE!!!
Three successive RPG grenades were fired at the door.
The door crashed in to pieces.
The remaining parts of what used to be the gate dangled on the hinges.
The colonel and his men stormed in to the compound.
Shooting at the house as they entered.
Their assault in was a ranger style storm attack.
Their crisscrossed advance towards the door of the house was backed up by heavy artillery gunfire:
They screamed loudly as they shoot blindly and moved from one position to the other.
They crisscrossed their movements to prevent sniper attacks from inside.
INT. PALACE.
TENSION was high in the residence as the trained and heavily armed military guards in the house reached for their weapons cocking and taking cover behind the walls.
Without hesitation they fired back at the advancing men through the windows.
Ten men on the advancing line of the colonel were hit.
The remaining stopped their advances and dashed to cover.
They two sides exchange bitter, loud, noisy and deadly fire.
The sound of infantry and heavy artillery intensified as the two groups tried to create bullet holes at each other.
Inter-cut
(The Nigerian radio and television station)
Captain Babangida and his boys were set to go.
The neighborhood was quiet until captain Babangida ordered his boys to fire.
Captain Babangida
Fire!!! Fire!!! Fire!!!
His boys have been patiently waiting for this moment.
The soldiers lying on the front rows were all armed with heavy artillery firepower: RPG (rocket propel grenades) and rocket launchers.
Their first out burst sent the gates and the security post blasting in the air.
The soldiers in the TV station responded with rapid infantry fire.
Guns screeched.
Bullet whistled in the air and grenades explodes as the invading soldiers fought the loyal soldiers for control of the building.
After three minutes the infantrymen in the compound seized fire, but the two men in the security tower continued firing their LMG.
Captain Babangida
Advance!!! Shoot and keep low stands as you advance.
The men moved few yards towards the building.
The Captain took aim with his pistol at the men in the security tower.
The men were busy operating their LMG.
They succeeded in cutting seven men down before the captain pulled the trigger of his 9mm pistol.
The two men received each a shot to the forehead, before their bodies flew down below.
Their was silence…the captain raised his hands a sign for his men to seized fire.
He waited and listened but there was not a single sound from inside the radio station.
Captain
Let’s move in…they are all dead.
The seize-fire of the men in the building was a trap to lure the invaders deep in to the heart of the compound and out of their covers.
The captain and his men screamed all the way…as they entered in to the heart of the compound.
To their surprise the compound was empty.
No gunmen.
No dead bodies.
Nothing…
The captain realized it’s a trap so he screamed…
Captain Babangida
Retreat!!! Now!!!
It was too late…
Gunmen appeared in the windows of the first and second floor of the building.
Some appeared at the front door of the building.
Together they opened fire at the captain and his men.
The captain and his remaining forty-three men were exposed and out of cover.
So the bullets of their enemies below and above cut through the men…
Twenty-seven men of the captain squad were hit in the first out burst.
Five more retreating men dropped as they received bullet wounds to their chests, necks, heads and throats.
The remaining eleven men and their captain retreated out of the gate.
Out side gate.
They strongly held their positions out of the gate and fired back at the men in the building.
Inter-cut

The eight men retreated from the window to change their magazines.
Other eight men replaced them by taking position beside the window and fired at the colonel and his men.
The colonel and his boys spread out in to three groups and attacked the guards from three different angles.
The two groups of enemies fired for three minutes without taking successive hits.
The colonel took a loaded RPG launcher lying beside him.
He placed it on his shoulder and took aim at the men in the first window…
He pressed the trigger…
The grenade flew out of the launcher…passed through the window and landed inside the building.
The three soldiers beside the first window were fried alive.
The Colonel reloaded his launcher…and repeated the same action…
The soldiers at the second window were fried as the grenade exploded beside them.
The Colonel repeated the same action at the second window and he received the same results.
He reloaded and fired this time at the door of the house.

It was empty.
They sprayed bullets everywhere: on the walls and ceiling and smashed the windowpanes with bullets.
They stormed out of the empty sitting room.

The colonel and his eight men entered the dining room.
A soldier was screaming on the telephone.
Soldier

The soldier stopped talking abruptly when he saw the colonel and his boys standing at the door of the dining room.
Soldier (Stuttering)

The colonel mercilessly fired the man on the forehead.

The President and his family were lying on the floor of the bathroom.
He was half naked. The only thing he had on was a boxer.
His wife Madame Buhari was lying on the floor beside her husband.
Their first son (Seven years old) MICHAEL was lying between his two parents and his younger sister (four years old) MARY.
Michael’s palm covered the mouth of his younger sister to prevent her from screaming.
The voice of the colonel was audible in the bathroom as he screamed.

The President and his family were still lying on the floor.
They listened fearfully at the voice of the colonel…

They were lying on the ground as they exchanged fire with the men in the building.
Bullets ricochet all around the fighters…
INT. PRESIDENTIAL PALACE. NIGHT
(Bathroom)
Michael pressed his palm on his sister mouth to prevent her from crying aloud.
Tears were falling free from the eyes of the first lady.
And then suddenly the sound of gunfire subsided and finally died down.
The President and his family listened for footsteps but there were none.
All of a sudden there was a loud bang on the door.
The door of the bathroom flew inwards.
The Colonel and his eight men entered the bathroom.
Colonel Patrick
Oh ho what a place for the glorious President of our country to hide…Hahahahahaha!!!!!
President
What have I done to you to incur such wrath from you, after all I have done for you Colonel Patrick…I treated you with respect and trust and put you in a position of trust.
Colonel Patrick (Angrily)

The colonel fired three warning shots on the floor beside the President.
The President was on his knees with his hands above his head.
The colonel slowly removed his pistol from the holster and shot the President between the eyes.
Mary (Screaming)

She rushed to her dieing father with tears in her eyes…
Madame Buhari’s mouth was opened wide…she was in a state of shock…
She was not able to cry or screamed.
Michael rushed at the Colonel with a fist.
The Colonel easily padded his young hands away and slapped him hard on the cheek.
The kid crashed on the floor.
The Colonel removed his pistol…
And then he deliberately aimed his pistol on Michael’s forehead.
He pulled the trigger…
Nothing happened.
(The sound of the empty gun was heard cracking.)
The colonel removed the empty magazine of the pistol and reloaded it with a filled magazine taken from the pocket of his military jacket.
He re-cocked the gun and pointed it between Michael’s eyes…
Michael was lying on the floor with his nose bleeding.
The index finger of the Colonel slowly reaches towards the trigger…

Sergeant Okoro
Yes sir!!
The Colonel fixed him a hard glare in the eyes and continued…
Colonel Patrick
I want you to tie these two children and their mother with a strong rope and keep vigil surveillance over them until I get back, for our people used to say: when a bitter and dangerous tree is cut down the root should be uprooted for if its left standing the tree will grow again and reproduce bitter fruits.
I repeat keep vigilant guard over them for when I come back I want to take the honor and pleasure in killing them myself.
Sergeant Okoro saluted.
Sergeant Okoro
Yes sir!!!
Colonel Patrick selected four men out of the eight men in the bathroom by pointing his fingers at them.
He led the way out of the bathroom.

Captain Babangida stopped firing and responded to the call.
Captain Babangida
The message is well understood. Copy and out…
He turned to his boys and screamed.
Captain Babangida
Retreat!!! Retreat!!! Retreat!!!
The Captain’s screams were heard amidst the sound of the heavy gunfire.
As soon as his boys got the message they break down and ran down the street.
The boys in the building of the TV station thought that victory is on their side.
And so without thinking they jumped out of the windows using ropes to slow their stunts and prevent them from bleeding.
And the other ones in the first floor joined the ones that has just jumped in to the compound, together they pursuit their enemies down the street, firing on their retreating figures.
The captain and his boys ran towards the colonel’s ambush.
The colonel and his boys were in the shadows watching the men ran towards their ambush.
The captain and his boys ran past their ambush down the street.
Few seconds later the boys in the TV station appeared and ran in to the colonel’s ambush
The colonel waited until they were four yards down the street from his position and ordered his men to fire.
Colonel
Fire!!!!!!!!!!!
The first out burst of the colonel and his men released twenty-three bullets and all of the bullets found their marks.
The men from the TV station were taken up by total surprise.
The second rapid out burst from the colonel and his men was a slaughter.
The men were not able to protect them selves as they were in the middle of the street so their position was fragile.
Thirty-three men received bullets on their heads, chest, neck, and groin. They shook in the air as if dancing break-dance as the bullets entered their body.
The remaining twelve men turned around and attempted to return fire at the men shooting at them from the back.
Few paces from the men down the street.
The captain and his boys stopped and started firing at the men from the TV station.
The remaining twelve men were not able to stand their grounds for thirty seconds as they were shot at from the back and front.
In thirty seconds the scene was as quiet as a graveyard.
All the men from the TV and radio station were lying down dead on the ground.
The street was filled with blood and damaged human bodies.

He was still bleeding from where the Colonel hit him.
The sergeant was watching the people on the ground uneasily.
Something was bothering him…what?
His index finger was in his mouth as he recalled from the past…

Sergeant Okoro moved closer to the first lady.
Sergeant Okoro
My wife is very sick Madame, the doctor said she is suppose to undergo an emergency operation and I don’t have money to pay for the operation Madame, please help me in the name of God Madame.
He started to cry.
The first lady was touched.
She moved closer to the Sergeant.
First lady
Hush don’t cry Mr. Okoro with God by our side everything will be fine, just keep the faith okay nothing will happen to her.
Sergeant Okoro (Crying)
I know Madame its just that I am worried she means the world to me your Excellency…
First Lady
It’s okay Sergeant be strong okay, hang on…
She moved towards her bedroom, she entered and came out few minutes later with a bunch of brown new naira notes and gave it to the Sergeant.
END OF FLASH-BACK
The Sergeant snatched him self awake from his memory with a (no head shake...)
Sergeant Okoro (Mumbling)
She saved the life of my wife now here I am collaborating to kill her and her family. I just can’t understand how ungrateful and untrustworthy we human beings can be.
He was determined and his face was tense when he turned to the four men and spoke…
Sergeant Okoro
Cut them loose. Now!!!
His command rang in the room.
Cont’d
I am the superior in this room and you boys shall do exactly as I say…
First soldier
But sir I thought…the colonel said we should guard them until he gets back and…
Sergeant Okoro removed his pistol and shot the soldier on the forehead.
Sergeant Okoro
Next time private when I say jump your duty is to ask how high…
Sergeant Okoro fired two more warning shots in the air to prove his point.
The three soldiers stood dumbfounded in front of the Sergeant.
Sergeant Okoro
Now I said cut them loose or am I joking?
Second soldier watched the sergeant and then the corpse on the ground.
He repeated the action thrice and then he shook his head hurriedly.
Second Soldier (Trembling)
You are not joking sir, far from it sir.
Sergeant Okoro (Taking out a grenade.)
So are you boys gonna do as I say? Or are you guys ready to join me in my private jet plane to hell.
The three soldiers hurriedly untied the first lady and her two children.
Third Soldier
Hey sergeant!! Jesus have mercy on your soul oh! Abi you know the kind of man the colonel is. If he returned back, I just want you to realize that you are alone in this agreed?
Sergeant Okoro
We are here to overthrow the president, and the government but not to maim and murder his innocent family. Our first plan was, this is supposed to be a bloodless coup. Enough blood shed for one night.
The soldiers stood aside after untying the two children and their mother.
Sergeant Okoro (To the first lady)
I want you and your children to run out of here as fast you could now!!! Or else I am going to kill you my self.
His pistol was aimed at the dumb founded soldiers, who did nothing but stared at their superior in disbelieves with their mouths opened.
Sergeant
Any body that tries to stop them will be next on the passenger plane to hell.
The first lady was in total shock.
She was not able to register the danger of the situation on the ground.
She stood motionlessly in the middle of the room.
Sergeant Okoro
I said move now…run for your lives.
He screamed at the first lady.
The seven years old Michel tugged at her mother and urged her to move.
Michael
Mummy lets go... if that bad one comes back he will kill us all, lets go mum…
Grabbing his mother arm, he pulled her out of the room.
His sister followed.
They ran out of the sitting room.
Through the hallway…into the compound
And out of the gate…

Chief Emanuel Kamouchi

Major General Haruna
Listen well my friend; democracy is not but a fickle hallucination for African nations, there will be no election or democracy or demo crazy or what ever so please for your own good if you can’t get out of the country…I advice you to lay low.
He banged the phone and hurried out of the booth.
A soldier step out of the jeep and opened the passenger seat of the jeep for him.

The soldier hopped in the back.
Few seconds later the jeep sped down the highway.

Sitting room.
Sergeant Okoro was sitting on a chair in the middle of the sitting room with his arms on his head.
He was bowed.
Colonel Patrick and his men froze at the door when they saw the body of the soldier on the ground and that the hostages were missing.
Colonel Patrick (Angrily)
Where are the children and their mother?
Sergeant Okoro
They escaped sir.
Colonel

Sergeant

Beads of sweat were settling on his forehead.
Colonel Patrick

Third soldier
I told the Sergeant not to let them get away but he refused to listen, he held a gun at us and told us to stand aside if not we shall all be dead meat that’s why he shot private Sam.
Colonel Patrick burst out in a rapid and outrageous laugh.
Colonel Patrick
Hahahahaha Oh yes, I know he is the only one capable of doing such a crazy and disgraceful thing but I tell you the truth comrade you will pay.
And the face of the Colonel became automatically tense.
He turned to his boys behind him and ordered.
Colonel Patrick
I want you to grab him now and stretch his right arm on that table over there.
Pointing to the center table in the middle of the sitting room.
The soldiers forcefully grab the struggling Sergeant and drag him towards the table.
They stretched his right arm on top of the table.
He was fighting and screaming, kicking, biting and scratching.
Slowly the colonel took a short and sharp war axe from the hands of one of the soldiers.
He moved towards the sergeant and stood in front of him.
Colonel Patrick
A soldier who can’t use his arms to execute the orders of his superior is better off without those arms. Say good-bye to your right arm sergeant.
Sergeant Okoro
Please Colonel please don’t kill me sir…please…I have served you for long and I have always been loyal to you please forgive me for the very first time.
Colonel Patrick

Sergeant Okoro
Please colonel you are my own brother and we have been through a lot of things together.
Colonel Patrick
Oh! I see that’s not your fault its mine…because I forgot to tell you that there is no brother in the Army.
He screamed at the soldiers.

EXT. ROCKY HILL. DAY
The following writing appeared below the screen.
ONE YEAR LATER
PLATOON STATE
A drunken old man dressed in tattered rags staggered up the stony hill.
He fell twice as he tries to reach the top of the hill.
Arriving at the middle of the hill he stopped and sat down.
He removed a bottle of whisky from his back pocket and then he took a long gulp and then he sulked on his lower lip greedily.
He lifted the gin up in the air and then suddenly he burst out laughing.
His name is OLD SOULJA.
That’s what everybody calls him anyway.
OLD SOULJA
Oh My God and savior I say thank you for this wine…(hic) If e nor be for this wine man fit die Bata Bata I swear. Ah! Imagine me Old Soulja the king of all men without my whis-ky ah! Ah! It’s not possible.

He replaced the bottle of whisky in his back pocket and continued his climb up the rocky hill.
On top of Rocky hill.
A group of fifteen children were sitting down on the ground with a pile of broken stones in front of each child. Each kid has a big and heavy hammer, as a tool to break the stones. The children chat noisily as they go about their heavy task.
The children were all half naked and shrunken like those children in famine Ethiopia.
Old Soulja appeared at the top of the hill very exhausted.
The children suddenly stopped chatting and concentrated on their work.
He stood in front of the children with an angry face and he removed the whisky from his back pocket and took a long gulp.
He wiped his mouth with the back of his palm.
He observed the children one after the other.
Old Soulja (Angrily)
What is really wrong with you children? Huh?
No response.
Cont’d

Michael the late President’s son was among the children, his head was bowed.
He slowly raised his head up and stared at the old drunkard in front of him, with tears in his eyes.
The old man moved towards the only table and chair beside the children.
He sat down and removed a bunch of naira notes from his pocket and placed it on top of the table.
He opened a tattered exercise book and started calling the names of the children.
Old Soulja
Amadou Belo
A skinny naked boy raised his hands up and screamed…
Boy

Old Soulja
Bring your skinny ass over here now! How many times have I told you it’s not president but present?
The boy stood up and hurried to the old man.
The Old man counted few naira notes and handed it over to the boy.
The boy took the money, signed on the old exercise book and retreated back to work.
Old Soulja

Michael was naked saved for his tattered boxers. He lifted his hands up.
Michael
Present sir.
Old Soulja

The boy rose up and moved towards the old man.
He stopped in front of the table with his arms behind his back.
Old Soulja
How can you be a Buhari and then yet still you are here working your ass off for chicken change? You are a fake Buhari because the real ones are in exile enjoying our stolen money in the white man’s land; I wish they should have been murdered in cold blood in the eve of the military palace coup. Tell me what kind of Buhari are you? Are you a slave Buhari? Hahahahaha.
The boy stood in front of the Old man eyeing him angrily.
The Old Man counted few notes and handed it over to the boy.

He ran non-stop around the huts on his way home.
He arrived home few seconds later. He stopped running and stood gaping at the old huts that’s has been their home for one year now since the death of his father.
About twelve people his neighbors, were gathered in front of the hut.
A bright lightening flashed…followed by a crack of thunder.
The basket fell from Michael’s arm as he screamed.

He ran towards the hut.
The people gathered in front of the hut split up and opened a space for Michael to pass through.
He entered the hut.

He placed his mother’s head on his lap and wiped the trace of blood from her mouth.
With the help of his sister they lifted her on to the small old and broken bed in the center of the room. When his mother was safely on the bed he stormed out of the room.
EXT. OF HUT.
The people were still gathered out of the hut, in the rain watching the suffering lady in the hut.
He ran down the lane over to an old cement house.
He stopped in front of the house.
The yellow paint of the house is old and falling or cracking in some places.

He banged three times no reply. He pushed the door it was unlocked and then he walked in to the house.

The sitting room of the house is bare and empty of furniture.
There are no tiles or carpets on the floor.

He was mumbling an Igbo war song.
Michel dashed in to the room.
He stopped beside Old Soulja.
Michael
Old Soulja…Old Soulja…Old Soulja.
Old Soulja slowly opened his eyes, he was furious when he recognized Michael.
Old Soulja

After recovering from a fit of laughter he returned back in to his filthy sitting room.

He curled up like a child in the center of the sitting room.
He cuddled his whisky bottle.
And then he mumbled him self to sleep singing an old traditional war song.
EXT. OUTSIDE OF HUT.
When Michael returned the crowd has dispersed.
He entered the hut and came out five seconds later running.
He stopped in front of the next hut and stared at an old wheelbarrow parked right in front of the hut. Michel took the handle of the wheelbarrow and pushed it right to the door of their hut. He parked it in front of the hut and entered.
He came out with his sister few seconds later struggling under the weight of their mother. They carry their mother to the wheelbarrow at the door.
The two children struggled under the weight of their mother.
They pushed and rolled their mother until they got her in the wheelbarrow.
Michael took the handle and started to pull while his sister helped him by pushing on the side of the wheelbarrow.
They pushed the wheelbarrow down the lane.
It was still raining heavily.
EXT. GATE OF VILLAGE HOSPITAL.
The hospital is a small one flat building.
The compound was large and beautiful.
The gate was closed.
Beside the gate was a security booth.
INSIDE SECURITY BOOTH.
The security booth is a small square building.
It contains a single room.
A table was at the corner of the room.
A hanger with a raincoat hanging on it was at the left side of the wall.
The guard and old man with tired looks was sitting on the only chair in the room.
He was dressed in a flashy green security uniform.
His feet were raised on the wall.
He mumbled a song as he inhaled tobacco from his pipe.
IT WAS STILL RAINING OUT SIDE.
AT GATE.
Michael and his sister appeared at the gates of the hospital with their mother in the wheelbarrow.
The children were wet and very tired but they kept on pushing their mother to the gate.
Since the gate was closed Michael moved to the gate and banged on the gate…
(KNOCK…KNOCK…KNOCK.)
INT. SECURITY BOOTH.
(Knock…Knock…knock…knock)
The sound of Michael banging on the gate was heard in the security booth.
The guard opened his eyes.
He stood up and removed a long black raincoat from the hanger and put it on top of his flashy uniform.
He took his torchlight from the table.
And then he strapped his old one-barrel riffle (shotgun) on his back and then he moved towards the gate.
He stopped besides the gate and pointed his torchlight at Michael’s face, his sister and then the lady in the wheelbarrow.
He sulked on his pipe as he keenly observed Michael, his sister and mother.

The headlights of an approaching vehicle penetrated.
The Old man raised his hands to his eyes to shed the lights.
A brown new and expensive Mercedes Benz stopped in front of the gate.
The security guard quickly opened the gates.
Instead of driving in to the compound the doors of the car were flung open.
Five heavily muscled and tense bodyguards dressed in black stepped out of the car.
One of the five heavily muscled men held the passenger door open with an umbrella as a man stepped out.
The man was a big fat man.
He was dressed in an expensive traditional dress.
He waved his chieftaincy staff in the air and as he stepped out of the car.
The guard held the umbrella above the chief’s head.
He is the great CHIEF ABIOLA AGATHA the (6th).
He was dressed as a very rich man and one can see money just by looking at him.
He resembled a man who wields a great power.
His tense security guards quickly positioned beside the gate.
The Chief moved towards the security guard.
The security guard saluted and bowed in front of the chief.
Chief Abiola Agatha
I am on my way to casirie village. My aunty is sick and I need to see the doctor for I want to take him with me to the village to treat my aunty since she is bluntly refusing to go to Lagos.
Security

The Chief slowly turned around and stared at the lady in the wheelbarrow and then the boy and girl beside her.
His mouth hung loosely in shock.
He indicated for his guards to approach.
The men hurried over to the chief.
Chief mumbled something to them.
The four muscled men moved quickly over to the children.
They grabbed Michael and his sister and then they rushed with them to the car.
The three men returned for the mother in the wheelbarrow.
Int. of car.

And then they followed Michael down the lane.
DOWN THE LANE.
Michael ran as fast as he could.
The men followed with full speed.
They took the first curve.
Second curve.
On the third curve Michael started slowing down.
The first man was three feet behind.
He stretched his hands to capture the slowing Michael…
Michael dodged him.
The man slipped and fell.
The other three men behind him stumbled and crashed on him.
Michael entered and disappeared in to the near by bush.
AT THE GATE
Chief stood in front of the car waiting impatiently.
The old security guard stood at the gate with his mouth opened wide.

EXT. HIGHWAY. NIGHT
Michael was still running.
Pushing hard on his feet.
He was very exhausted but he kept on pushing on and on…like a tired escaping prisoner of war in Vietnam.
EXT. HIGHWAY. NIGHT
A black van sped on the high way.
Loud reggae music blasted from the jukebox.
The music was concrete jungle by Bob Marley.
There was only one occupant in the car, and that was the driver.
JOSEPH.
Joseph shook his head to the rhythm of the music.
He controls the steering with his left hand as he wraps a pack of marijuana with his right hand.
Joseph is tall and lightly muscled.
He had a Rastafarian hat on his head and he was dressed in black: black booths and jeans and a black body.
He put the butt of the marijuana to his mouth and then he scratched the match.
He inhaled deeply and then he puffed out the smoke.
He slowly closed his eyes as he felt the sweet sensation of (sensimilla) flowing through his body.
He calmly steered the wheels.
Dissolved to:
(Same van)
Joseph watched the time on the dashboard.
He stopped the music and tuned in the radio.
The anchorman was speaking about him on the radio.
Anchorman (Filtered)
I repeat this man is very dangerous; he is five feet ten inches tall. He is fair in complexion. He is responsible for twelve murders and seventeen robberies. Joseph has been living on crime for the past nine years. His name on the street is bloody dogg; he is on his mid twenties. His name is on every police file in Nigeria, he has been condemned, jailed, but he is still a king in the street of crime. Like an eagle he flew from state to state searching for prey. There is a big reward for anybody with information linking to this man…if seen please be careful for he is very dangerous and call this number 0087644…
Joseph turned off the radio.
JOSEPH
It’s seem as if I am the most popular man in the country wow I am flattered. Most Wanted Joseph Hahahahaha.
He removed Bob Marley’s cassettes from the tape and replaced it with Peter Tosh.
The sound of peter Tosh singing Vampire blasted in the air as Joseph sped down the highway.

He spit de words out as he inhaled from the marijuana cigarette.
He threw the jut to the ground step on it, and then he moved towards the entrance of the mini supermarket.
He stopped at the door.
There was a picture of him at the door of the mini supermarket marking him as most wanted and dangerous.
He observed the picture, smiled and entered.
INT. MINI SUPERMARKET.
The cashier was in the process of giving change to one of the customers (a middle age man).
Two other customers (a male and female) were waiting patiently beside the counter.
Two women and a man walked beside the shelves filling their baskets with items.
Joseph opened the door and entered.
He walked confidently towards the cashier.
The man was still busy counting the change.
1st Customer (Male)
My friend you have to be quick we are in a hurry I am supposed to see my in laws. Please be quick now!
Cashier
Patient sir I will see to you and you…
He stopped in mid sentence when he saw Joseph’s Pistol pointing at his forehead.
Fear was painted in his eyes.
He observed Joseph with his mouth opened wide and his lips trembling.
Joseph

He removes another pistol from the holster and fired two rapid shots on the ceiling.
The other pistol waited patiently on the forehead of the cashier.

The customers fell on their stomach.
And the cashier was about to go down too.
Joseph (To the cashier)

He fired two more warning shots.
Cashier (Mumbling and crossing himself {sign of the cross})

Joseph

All the customers on the floor mumbled…

He caught the frightening eyes of the cashier.
Cashier
My name is Joseph sir, we have the same name sir so that’s why I am begging you not to kill me sir.
Joseph quickly un-strapped the cashier’s badge from his breast pocket and then he quickly scanned it with his quick eyes.
Joseph

Please sir I don’t want to die sir please I have (20) twenty daughters and (50) fifty sons... if I die who will take care of them now?
Joseph flung the badge to his face and smiled for the very first time since he entered the mini-supermarket, and then he burst out in a loud and horselaugh.
Joseph
See why I like to kill people cause death is funny like fuck. Isn’t it?
He smiled.
Cont’d
But anyways if ya don’t wanna die my friend just fill my bag Ok? No body will get hurt.
The Cashier loaded the bag hurriedly with all the money he had on the drawer.
His eyes were constantly checking the mouth of the barrel as he fills the bag.
Joseph zipped the bag and strapped it to his back when the cashier finished filling it.
He moved towards the telephone at the side of the counter.
He unplugged the cord.
Removed a pocketknife from his pocket and cut it.
He walked out of the mini super market confidently as if it belongs to his father.
OUT OF SUPERMARKET.
He moved from car to car and punctured the tires of the four cars outside.
He entered his van, kicked the engine and zoomed off in to the night.
INT. SUPERMARKET.
The customers slowly rose up from the ground peeping out side.
The lady that was lying near the counter stood up and asked the cashier…
Lady
Mister do you really have 20 daughters and fifty sons?
Cashier (Shout)
Just shut your mouth up do you understand? If not I will shut it up for you.
Lady
Why didn’t you shut his mouth up? The guy with the gun…you are man indeed. Nowadays you Nigerian men are stupid yea-yea men.
Cashier
I said shut up.
EXT. HIGHWAY. NIGHT
The black van sped on the highway.

Joseph was listening to loud reggae music as he sped down the highway.
He was puffing another marijuana cigarette.

The interior of the van was filled with marijuana smoke.

The kid seems to be unconscious.
The door of the van opened.
Joseph stepped out.
He was armed with a magnum shot gun.
He cocked it as he step out of the van.
He moved towards the front of the van.
He stopped beside the kid and turned right, left and right again scanning the zone for danger.
When he assured himself the atmosphere is clean…
He knelt down beside the kid.
The kid was lying on his stomach.
He was naked save for a tattered boxer.
Joseph turned him over with the barrel of the magnum.
He felt the pulse of the kid he was surprise to found out that it’s functioning.
Joseph
So you are alive rude boy?
He moved the kid off the street from harm’s way and dragged him to the side of the highway.
Michael was still unconscious.
Joseph returned to his car.
Closed the door and then…
He kicked the engine and sped off in to the dark.
Dissolve to:
Michael was still lying on the side of the highway.
Mosquitoes were feasting on his naked body.
{Four seconds later}
The van appeared on the scene from the other side of the highway.
It was reversing towards the scene.
It stopped beside Michael.
Joseph step out of the van and moved towards the kid.
He stood in front of the kid observing him.
He bent down on his knees and lifted the kid from the ground.

INT. PRESIDENTIAL PALACE. MORNING.
{Breakfast room}
The new president Colonel Patrick was having breakfast in his golden palace with his family: His wife and his four years old daughter Susan.
The Colonel was busy spoon-feeding himself.
Susan was picking at her food.
While the first lady sat down in front of her food without touching it and starring in to nothingness.
His Excellency Colonel Patrick stopped eating and observed his wife.
President
What’s wrong with you Honey? Why are you not eating your food? What’s wrong?
The First Lady slowly turned around and captured her husband’s eyes.
First Lady (After a while)
Where were you last night Patrick? Why do you have to come home late every night? And nowadays you don’t care about us, you are either running here or over there…what’s happening to you?
President
Look my dear since the very first day, I knew you were against my moves but look what it has given us…your husband which is me, yes me, I am now the president of the republic of Nigeria and you are the honorable first lady of this blessed nation of ours...the greatest nation in the world. What else would a woman ask for?
First Lady
Happiness…love and care, yes happiness is all I need in my life and it’s all I have ever asked for.
President
Look my dear if you don’t appreciate all I am doing for you…I think its time you start considering moving out of the country.
The First Lady rose from her chair and moved towards her husband.
President
Because all I need from my woman is support, if you cant bring your self to give me support then…
The first lady approached his Excellency and sat on his lap.
First Lady
Look Patrick I love you and I want you to be happy.
She spoke as she caressed his heavy moustache.
He slowly and gently eased her off his lap and stood up.
President (Walking around with his arms behind his back)
Look, don’t get me wrong of course I am happy. Being a President is not an easy task ok? But I love the life I am living…don’t you see everybody is worshipping me in the country...it feels like I am God...I have the decision to give and take life...I can kill anybody I want at the national stadium while the people watch and hail their mighty president.
First Lady
Patrick what about the then President your best friend? You killed him for power, which is vanity, and you are still proud of your self.
President (Moving closer to first lady)
What do you think a soldier is trained for? To protect and free his country at all cost. What do you think I am? Huh? I am just a patriotic soldier that sacrificed his life for his country.
First Lady (Shout)
You are nothing but a wretched killer, a killer! That is what you are.
The slap caught her off guard.
She fell to the ground crying in pain.
First Lady
{Ahhhhhhhhh}
Her daughter rushed towards her mother, crying.
Susan
Mummyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
President
Get up and prepare your self for a very long stay in the United Kingdom and I prefer my daughter to get one of the best education in the world. So from this day onwards she is going to get her education in the United Kingdom. I don’t want to see you two for a very long time understand? I have prepared your documents.
He moved towards the door and called.
Cont’d
Driver! Driver!
His heavy voice echoed through the hallways.
The chauffeur appeared at the door of the breakfast room.
He was dressed in a military uniform.
He is of middle age.
He snapped a perfect salute.
DRIVER
Yes sir!!
He was at attention after the salute slightly trembling with fear before this great lion of Nigeria.
President (Flung two passports at the chauffeur.)
Prepare the Rolls Royce, I want you to accompany the First Lady and my daughter Susan to the airport they are going for a long stay in the United Kingdom. Give them these documents when you arrive at the airport. Do you understand?
The driver saluted once more.
Driver
YES SIR!!!
He hurried out of the house to get the Rolls on the ready.
EXT. AN EMPTY FIELD IN THE MIDDLE OF A JUNGLE. MORNING.
An empty field stretched out in the middle of the jungle.
The Jungle surrounding the empty field was thick and dense like Vietnam jungle.
In the middle of the empty field is a small villa.
The villa stood alone in the middle of nowhere.
{The camera rolled from the jungle, the field right up to the house that was situated in the middle of the field.}
There was a signboard in front of the house.
And the following writing was on the signboard.
{BASE-2}
The black van of Joseph was parked by the side of the house.
There were three other vehicles beside the van.
The house contained three small bedrooms, a sitting room, a toilet, kitchen and dinning room.
The camera rolled in to the master bedroom.
The room was empty.
There are two grand pictures of Joseph on the wall.
The bed was unmade as if somebody just rose from it after a bad night without arranging the bed sheets.
The camera rolled from the bedroom through the hallway into the kitchen.
{The sound of somebody mumbling Bob Marley’s -Shot the Sheriff- was heard as the camera moved in to the kitchen.}
The slightly muscled back of Joseph was seen, as he was turned to the gas with his back towards the camera.
He continued to mumbled Bob Marley’s song as…
He moved to the shelf.
Opened it and removed two plates, two cups and two spoons and two forks.
INT. BEDROOM.
Michael was sleeping soundly in the small bedroom.
His thumb was in his mouth.
He was mumbling incoherently in his sleep.
He was having a nightmare…
FLASHBACK
(Toilet of Presidential palace)
The colonel shot Michaels’ father on the fore head…
Michael screamed.
EXT. STREET.
Michael his mother, and his sister were running down an empty street.
EXT. IN FRONT OF HOSPITAL. NIGHT.
CHIEF
DON’T LET HIM ESCAPE.
MICHAEL RAN IN TO THE JUNGLE
AS THE FOUR MEN FOLLOWED…
HE SCREAMED…
END OF FLASH BACK.
Michael opened his eyes.
Beads of sweat were settled on his forehead.
Joseph stood in front of him with a plate full of salad and a cup of tea.
He moved towards the table at the corner of the room and put the food on top of the table.
Michael
Who are you and where am I?
Joseph
Boy I think you need food right now not answers, so it will be best if you serve your self then later we can talk understand?
Michael’s eyes ran over the food on the table.
He rose up from bed and moved towards the food.
Joseph retreated out of the room as Michael greedily fell on the food.
He closed the door behind him.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. HOUSE.
Michael moved out of the front door and head towards the backyard.
There was a hard serial sound of somebody hitting something coming from the back of the house.
{THUD…THUD…THUD…THUD}
Michael followed the sound to the back of the house.
He was barefooted and he limped slightly as he moves.
Back yard.
Joseph was dressed in a tracksuit with punching gloves on his hands.
He was hitting hard at a punching bag that was suspended between two sticks.
He circled around the punching bag as he delivered serious, accurate and heavy punches on the bag.
Michael’s head appeared on the corner as he peeped on Joseph.
Joseph stopped punching and slowly turns around arms reaching for his pistol which was strapped below his stomach.
He relaxed a little when he saw the boy from the corner peeping at him.
He smiled…
Joseph
Hey boy can you bring your ass out of that corner? Peeping is not permitted in this house.
The boy slowly stepped out of hiding.
Joseph
You can make a good street Soulja I can sense it in you, so word-up?
He took the hand of the kid and led him to a fallen tree trunk beside his gym.
The kid sat down and then Joseph sat down beside him.
He stared at the kid for a while.
Joseph
What’s your name boy?
Michel
My name is Michel and you?
Joseph smiled.
Joseph
Look, my friend only one person asks questions here and that’s me, and you…you are supposed to sit tight and answer my questions aiight?
Michel
Why would I answer your questions if you won’t answer mine? Do you think that’s fair justice?
Joseph was frowning.
Joseph
What do you know about justice? Do you think it does exist in this forsaken hell of ours?
Michael
There is no justice because people are not ready to sacrifice their lives for justice, and patriotism is a thing of the past. Every man is greedily thinking about self-interest not about the development of our continent. We are all carried away by: fantasies and materiel things that we won’t be able to take to our graves.
Joseph mouth was open wide…
He stared at the kid baffled.
Joseph
Who the fuck are you?
Michael
I am just a peasant who had lost his way and searching for a way home. But I am not looking forward of going home because all that’s left of home is a memory of untouchable and unattainable dreams, the only pictures I have of home is a fading past glory.
The boy’s face was set and angry.
Joseph stared at the kid for six seconds…
And then he smiled.
Joseph
Do you now that I am the most wanted man in the country? And that I am a criminal living on crime and that killing innocent people is my way of life?
Michael
I can’t blame you my friend, for our country has fallen in the hands of vultures willing and ready to devour the soul of young and ambitious men. When a cat found its back to the wall and facing attacks from the front it doesn’t have a choice but to strike back without mercy? Will I blame you if you got angry and strike at a system that’s pushing your back at the wall and is continuing to tear you apart?
Joseph
Do you know what I think?
Michael
What?
Joseph
I think you need a shrink to keep your head from bouncing?
Joseph laughed…
Michael
Man do you think we are living in a funny world? I wish I should have had a reason to laugh as you do…Anyways can you tell me why you saved my life?
Joseph
I am lonely, and besides I need an apprentice, somebody to duck with me when bullets are flying in the air, there is nothing more wonderful than ducking bullets with a partner. Will you work with me and allow me to train you?
Michael
Do I have a choice? What about if I say no?
Joseph
If you say no…that means you are condemned to death by firing squad, I don’t think you have a choice my friend.
Michael
When are we gonna start?
Joseph
What?
Michael
Training…
Joseph stood up and took three steps away from the child…
And then he turned around.
Joseph
It will be better for you to rest through out the day today, for tomorrow shall be one of the first tough days in the tough days you have ahead of you.
He moved towards the front of the house.
EXT. HILL IN JUNGLE. EARLY MORNING.
Joseph was in front while Michael jogged behind him.
The kid started slowing down, as he got tired.
Joseph
Come on…Come on...Hurry!!
Joseph screamed as he urged Michel to keep on running as they climbed the rocky hill.
The morning was early. Dew settled in the air.
The kid fostered the spirit of effort and pushed his tiring feet after Joseph.
ACROSS A RIVER.
The river was not that deep, the depth stopped at Joseph’s knees while it reached up to the boy’s waist.
They ran across the river.
As they crossed the river the boy stopped as he started feeling nausea, he tried to move, but his head was whirling around, his knees unbuckled he lost his balance and fell.
INT. OF BASE-2. NIGHT.
(Michael’s bedroom)
Michael was lying on the bed on his stomach.
Moaning softly.
Three seconds later…
The door opened and Joseph entered carrying a pot of hot water and a towel on his shoulder.
He stopped in front of the kid and put the pot down beside the bed.
He removed the towel from his shoulder, ducked it in the hot water and squeezed it.
The water dripped back in to the pot.
He used the hot towel to massage Michael’s back.
The kid moans loudly as he was massaged.
EXT . ACROSS A RIVER. NIGHT.
Two long ropes were attached at two trees from the opposite bank of the river.
Joseph and Michael used the ropes as guide, as they swam against the hard current of the river.
EXT. MOUNTAIN. MORNING
Michael jogged along the side of Joseph as they climb the mountain at full speed.
They reached the top few seconds later.
ON TOP OF MOUNTAIN.
Michael and Joseph were standing face to face.

Together they released two double kicks…front and roundhouse kick.
The actions were repeated three times they change stands and repeated the action three times.
Michael fought to control his balance as he released the kicks.
BY THE BANKS OF A RIVER.
Joseph and Michael performed the various blocks on a front moving stands:
Middle inside block-three times.
Middle out side block three times.
Up rising block three times.
Down Block three times.
GYM BACK YARD.
Michael was lying on the beanch.
Joseph stood above him and then he passed the weight over to Michael.
Joseph
This is call beanch press now one!
Michael struggled under the weight.
Joseph shouted…
Cont’d
Come on kid stop acting like a bitch pusshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Michael tried but the weight was too heavy for his young hands…
Joseph (Shouting)

Nigeria’s landscape ranges from hot, rainy swamps and forest to dry sandy reaches, grassy plains and Rocky Mountains.
{The pictures of different people from different works of life and from different ethnic groups and the pictures of different landscapes of Nigeria accompanied the voice and words}

Madame Buhari
Do you believe that there is an art of reading a man’s mind from his eyes? Do you think all those that smile to you are your friends? Have you ever heard the word white teeth black heart?

The cat is ready to pounce and is yours also on the ready? Over?
Inter-cut
Captain Babangida was intensely watching the men at the security tower in the compound of the radio and television station as he communicated with his senior officer.
Captain Babangida
Set and ready to go, over?

{Few Yards from the Presidential palace.}

Eight soldiers were on the windows firing out side rapidly.
It blew inwards.

They sprayed bullets in the room before they stormed inside.
The room was empty.
The seven men repeated the same action in the second and third room on the hallway but all the three rooms were empty.
SITTING ROOM
The colonel and six men moved to the sitting room…
It was empty.
They sprayed bullets everywhere: on the walls and ceiling and smashed the windowpanes with bullets.
They stormed out of the empty sitting room.
Dining room.
The colonel and his eight men entered the dining room.
A soldier was screaming on the telephone.
Soldier
We need rapid intervention!! They have taken over the residence!!! We need intervention now!!! We are…
The soldier stopped talking abruptly when he saw the colonel and his boys standing at the door of the dining room.
Soldier (Stuttering)
I…I…I surr…ender sir…please don’t kill me sir…please!!! Sir I am a father sir…
The colonel mercilessly fired the man on the forehead.
They moved out of the dinning room towards the Presidential bedroom.
BED ROOM OF president.
The door of the bedroom was closed.
Colonel
You can come out side and surrender Mr. President the war is over. You are finished so I advice you to die with honor…
Bathroom
The President and his family were lying on the floor of the bathroom.
He was half naked. The only thing he had on was a boxer.
His wife Madame Buhari was lying on the floor beside her husband.
Their first son (Seven years old) MICHAEL was lying between his two parents and his younger sister (four years old) MARY.
Michael’s palm covered the mouth of his younger sister to prevent her from screaming.
The voice of the colonel was audible in the bathroom as he screamed.
Colonel Patrick (O.S)
President Buhari you can come out now with respect and surrender don’t make this hard on your self and beside you are a soldier and soldiers are not afraid of death…
On the door of Presidential bedroom.
The guns of the eight men beside the Colonel were ready to blast…their guns were pointed at the door.
Colonel Patrick
If you don’t come out I will force my way in and when I get in consider your self to be honored by a slow and painful death…Hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bathroom.
The President and his family were still lying on the floor.
They listened fearfully at the voice of the colonel…
Colonel Patrick (O.S)
Four…three…two…one…you will regret this Mr. President.
The children snuggled close to each other as the colonel and his boys opened fire at the door of the presidential bedroom.
EXT. GATE OF TV STATION. NIGHT
Captain Babangida and his remaining ten men held their position outside the gate strongly and fired back at the men in the building.
Shut up!!!
The colonel fired three warning shots on the floor beside the President.
The President was on his knees with his hands above his head.
The colonel slowly removed his pistol from the holster and shot the President between the eyes.
Mary (Screaming)
Daddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sergeant Okoro entered the bathroom with a full run.
He stopped in front of the Colonel and saluted.
He held a walkie-talkie on his left hand.
Sergeant Okoro
Colonel sir, Captain Babangida is on the air for you sir…its urgent sir!
He saluted again as he handed the walkie-talkie- over to the Colonel.
The Colonel took the walkie-talkie.
He pressed the Press-to-talk button and spoke through the mouthpiece.

HALLWAY
Twelve soldiers were waiting in the hallway.
Colonel Patrick
Follow me!!!
The twelve men joined the four men and followed the Colonel outside the house in to the compound.

The men in the building were hard to hit because of their safe cover behind the walls.
They fired.
Retake cover, change magazines and fired back…
The camera rolled over the fighting scene towards the next street.
The four jeeps stopped on the street.
The Colonel jumped out and indicated his boys to jump out too.
The twenty-two armed men silently jumped out of the jeeps.
The Colonel led the men by crawling towards the fighting scene on the next street.

Colonel Patrick

Fighting scene.
The colonel and his boys left their covers and come out to watch their handiwork. His boys and the captain and his boys moved around the bodies turning them around with their military booths to search for survivals or those pretending dead.

He was still bleeding from where the Colonel hit him.
The sergeant was watching the people on the ground uneasily.
Something was bothering him…what?
His index finger was in his mouth as he recalled from the past…
FLASHBACK
(Eight months ago)
Sitting room of Presidential palace
The first lady was watching a Nigerian movie with her children in the posh sitting room in the presidential palace

Madame Buhari
Come in please…
Sergeant Okoro entered the living room and saluted the first lady.
Sergeant Okoro
How are you doing Madame?
First lady
Fine, but I told you so many times that I am your sister and you can’t go about saluting your sister all the time, or is it because I am a Hausa and you are an Igbo? No, we are both Nigerians ok? Can’t you see my husband is an Igbo? So I am your sister…have you eaten something?
Sergeant Okoro
Yes Madame.
First lady
You look worried what’s your problem? Can I help you?
Sergeant Okoro
Yes Madame.
First lady

Sergeant Okoro (Mumbling)

And you did not try to stop them; all of you here stand by and watch with smiles on your would be dead faces while they ran away huh?
In the Army there is no first time or last time, because every moves count greatly, a single mistake will cost you and a whole battalion’s life.
Sergeant Okoro
Please colonel you are my own brother and we have been through a lot of things together.
Colonel Patrick
Oh! I see that’s not your fault its mine…because I forgot to tell you that there is no brother in the Army.
He screamed at the soldiers.
Cont’d
I want his fingers to be well spread out on the table, now!!
The colonel lifted the axe right up in the air and crashed it on the Sergeant’s right arm, with a sharp thud blood splashed on the colonel’s uniform and face.

The Sergeant screams echoed out of the house…
SLOW DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. ROCKY HILL. DAY
The following writing appeared below the screen.
He stood up.
Cont’d

Cont’d
I said what is the matter with you foolish children? Don’t you have mouths? Aren’t you the same people yapping here like dogs just now? I have told you over and again if you are tired and you don’t want to work…(Hic) Abi go home and rest oh! Ah! Most of you are here because your poor and useless parents can’t afford your daily bread that’s why they send you here to work all day for you to earn money and feed them, but did I send call anyone of you to work here?

Boy
President sir.
Old Soulja
Bring your skinny ass over here now! How many times have I told you it’s not president but present?
The boy stood up and hurried to the old man.
The Old man counted few naira notes and handed it over to the boy.
The boy took the money, signed on the old exercise book and retreated back to work.
Old Soulja
Michael Buhari.
Michael was naked saved for his tattered boxers. He lifted his hands up.
Michael
Present sir.
Old Soulja
Bring your bastard self over here now!! Stupid nincompoop.
EXT. MARKET OF A SMALL VILLAGE. EVENING.
(BEATS)
It’s a small village with about fifteen thatch huts and three old cement buildings.
The market square is located at the extreme edge of the village.
Michael moved from one stall to another, buying vegetables: Onions, peppers, dry fish and other small things for cooking.
EXT. VILLAGE. EVENING.
(It was raining heavily)
Michael ran between the huts of the village with a small basket filled with the items he bought at the market.
Michael (Screaming)
Mummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He ran towards the hut.
The people gathered in front of the hut split up and opened a space for Michael to pass through.
He entered the hut.
INT OF OLD HUT.
The hut was leaking greatly as the rain poured in to the hut.
His mother was lying on the ground vomiting blood.
His younger sister Mary was sitting beside her on the ground crying helplessly.
Michael knelt down beside her mother as tears fell from his eyes.
He screamed…
Michael
Mummy!!! Please Mummy don’t die please everything will be fine Mummy please…
The house is old, dusty and the zinc is rusty.
Michael hesitated and then he banged on the door.
He banged three times no reply. He pushed the door it was unlocked and then he walked in to the house.
INT. HOUSE. SITTING ROOM.
The sitting room of the house is bare and empty of furniture.
There are no tiles or carpets on the floor.
Old Soulja was lying on the dusty floor cuddled with a bottle of whisky.
He was mumbling an Igbo war song.
Michel dashed in to the room.
He stopped beside Old Soulja.
Michael
Old Soulja…Old Soulja…Old Soulja.
Old Soulja slowly opened his eyes, he was furious when he recognized Michael.
Old Soulja

ANGLE ON (OLD SOULJA) as he watched Michael ran down the lane.
Old Soulja
Hey boy tell your mother not to forget to tell my mother in heaven that I love her Hahahahaha…
After recovering from a fit of laughter he returned back in to his filthy sitting room.
SITTING ROOM.
Michel (To the guard)
Please sir our mother is dieing please help us…please we want to see the doctor sir please…

Chief stood in front of the car waiting impatiently.
The old security guard stood at the gate with his mouth opened wide.

He walked confidently towards the cashier.
The man was still busy counting the change.

Joseph turned around to observed the other shoppers in the mini supermarket.
They were frozen on their feet.
He removes another pistol from the holster and fired two rapid shots on the ceiling.
The other pistol waited patiently on the forehead of the cashier.

And the cashier was about to go down too.
Joseph (To the cashier)

He moved from car to car and punctured the tires of the four cars outside.

First Lady

The villa stood alone in the middle of nowhere.
{The camera rolled from the jungle, the field right up to the house that was situated in the middle of the field.}
There was a signboard in front of the house.
And the following writing was on the signboard.
{BASE-2}
{The sound of somebody mumbling Bob Marley’s -Shot the Sheriff- was heard as the camera moved in to the kitchen.}
{THUD…THUD…THUD…THUD}
Joseph

Michael and Joseph descended in a low backhand, knife strike fighting stands.
Joseph

Together they released two double kicks…front and roundhouse kick.
The actions were repeated three times they change stands and repeated the action three times.
Michael fought to control his balance as he released the kicks.
BY THE BANKS OF A RIVER.

Michael was lying on the beanch.
Joseph stood above him and then he passed the weight over to Michael.
Joseph

Michael struggled under the weight.
Joseph shouted…

Michael tried but the weight was too heavy for his young hands…

And then the screen became filled with three successive flash of lightning and the sound of thunder…
