A Lagos-based cub reporter, who allegedly demanded N5m gratification from Anita Hogan in exchange for her nude photographs and six others have been arrested by the police in Lagos. Also in police net in connection with the crime is a computer engineer.

Detectives from the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, and Yaba, picked the suspects at different parts of the city a couple of days ago following a petition written to the police by the counsel to the victim.

The arrest came just as there were indications that the publication has left Anita very dejected and wounded psychologically, leading her to develop an abhorrence for men.

Her associates claim the nude publication considered an intrusion into his privacy, would not only portend evil for her relationship, but her public image.

Police sources said that following their arrest, the suspects who included a computer engineer have made statements in respect of their involvement in the scandalous publication.

They were held for blackmail and obtaining money under false pretences.
While the computer engineer allegedly released the nude pictures to two newsmen following the discovery during a routine repair, the journalist allegedly cashed in on the situation and demanded the sum of N5m from Anita to enable him ‘kill’ the story.

All plea by Anita that the publication of the nude photographs taken with her fiancée and stored in his lap-top computer, would have dangerous effect on her life and relationship, were rebuffed by the collaborators.
On the other hand, Anita was said to have silenced the other journalist, after parting with N300, 000. But the suspect now in police cell allegedly insisted on N5m, stating the newspaper sales would be higher than that upon publication.

When the police got wind of his request for N100,000, they asked Anita to play along and arrangment was made for Emeka to meet with Anita at Military Hospital Yaba, where she was receiving treatment. There, he was arrested by detectives when he moved to collect the money from Anita’s car. Emeka later assisted the police to arrest the journalist along with the rest collaborators All the collaborators have spent over four days in police cell. Top police sources confirmed the report.

It is now double trouble for Anita Hogan as his impending marriage heads for the rocks even as she has lost her three-month-old pregnancy following the publication of her porn photographs with her foreign boyfriend.
Sources said her secret love with the white guy which came to the open had badly affected her relationship with her real finance.

A petition written by Anita’s lawyer, Mr. Tony Dania of Dania and Associates, to the Deputy Commissioner of Police SCID, Lagos, actually admitted that the pictures in circulation were those of the actress but stressed that they were Anita’s private pictures with her fiance, stolen and doctored to suit the purpose of blackmail.

“The aforesaid publication is a criminal invasion of our client’s privacy. From the story the suspects published, it was obvious that there was blackmail and attempts to extort money from our client. They stole some of our clients’ pictures, used the computer to improvise and superimpose further images on them, called our clent and demanded for money.

“The white man in the published pictures is a true resemblance of Anita’s fiance who works in a very decent organisation. In fact, they have done the pre-marriage formal introduction.”

A few days into the Gulder Ultimate Search, a reality TV show that held in Obudu, Cross River State last year, one of the female contestants, Anita Hogan had broken down and wept as she lamented the agony and pains they were made to suffer in the course of looking for a lost fortune.

Anita, who is nicknamed ‘boxer’ for her huge physique may have disappointed her fans when she broke down and cried in the full glare of the cameras. But pennutimate Friday, Anita had cause to shed hot tears, wail and roll on the ground as she bemoaned her fate after seeing her nude photos splahed on the front and inside pages of an evening newspaper.

In an exclusive interview with Blockbuster the following day, Anita lamented amidst tears how the publication had damaged her reputation and demeaned her integrity. She told the reporter on phone that having considered the damage done to herself and career as a top actress in Nollywood, she felt like committing suicide.

“I feel like hitting the streets. I feel like killing myself,” Anita said in tears.
The brief interview went thus:
Q: Are the nude photographs in the newspaper really yours because I read the story where you said they could not be yours?

Anita: Yes, they are mine.
When you saw your nude photographs in the paper, what was your first reaction?
Anita: I didn’t know what hit me.
How did the photographs get to the public?
Anita: I didn’t know.

Who was the whiteman you posed with?
Anita: He is my fiancee. We were just having fun and toying with the camera. He snapped me and I snapped him. The photographs were downloaded onto my laptop. The laptop crashed and was taken for repairs. I think that’s how the pictures got into the wrong hand. And they have been used to blackmail me.
It was reported that you posed nude for the whiteman for money?
Anita: (cuts in) How can I descend so low? I can never pose nude for all the money in this world.

What are you going to do now?
Anita: Tosin, I don’t know o. (sobs and wails) These people have ruined me. They have killed me. I feel like hitting the streets. I feel like killing myself.
