Osun: Songs of rebirth for a people’s heritage
Barely one month after it was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the popular Osun Grove in Osogbo last Saturday hosted the world to yet another grand finale of the Osun festival. The yearly festival held with an auspicious message that all and sundry should work relentlessly to sustain and exploit the groove’s values and potentials for economic and cultural advantage.
Widely called Osun Osogbo and noted for its unique fanfare, spectacle and intimidating crowd, the festival this year held variously at the Groove, the Ataoja palace as well as neighbouring streets in the historic town. It rallied indigenes; particularly social and cultural age groups, associations and worshippers of others deities including Esu (Devil), Obatala (god of creation), Ogun (god of iron) and Sango (god of thunder), among many others.

Mostly they do but not if they are doing some Festival. For example when the new "Oba of Lagos" did his coronation, you could se all kind of secret cults. It was scary! Like those peeps you call 'Awo'...hope am right there. I saw a lot of youngsters amongst them too, which shows us that a lot of peeps still believe in native religion

How contradictory
more from the article ..."Interestingly too and as a matter of convention, many people were seen waving away evil with their hands or drinking the Osun water for spiritual healing."
Go figure, if devil=evil and devil worshippers were actively in attendance can i presume that their presence was not much appreciated? I'll save my comments on this fetish festival.
