Third term: Soyinka warns Obasanjo
Nobel Laureate and Convener of the Citizens’ Forum, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has asked President Olusegun Obasanjo to call to order those campaigning for the extension of his tenure.
Soyinka also faulted the intervention of some elder statesmen in the face-off between the Federal and Lagos State governments over the creation of new councils, describing the move as an encouragement of illegality. Soyinka, who spoke at a news conference in Lagos on Tuesday, said that though Obasanjo was yet to make his position on the speculated third term ambition known, the President was allowing for wild speculations that he was interested in the game plan by not stopping the campaigners.
