Don't even act like you don't know anymore. From 21st century to the end of time...the tradition is not going to change. Yes a female can carry the family name, but 99% of Naija men will tell you that they would prefer a son to be the one carrying the name.

The man should actually feel the pressure since the MAN is the one that produces the sex of the baby. So he can impregnate as many women as he likes he will probably have a male child eventually.
Women should not stress about the sex...men should just shoot right.

no one cannot question the work of the lord, to everything that happen there is a reason, children are blessing weather is a boy or a girl give thanks. One day we will talk it over with our creator and he will answer our question, if we only be faithful and true to is word.

You got it wrong Yvonne. Oprah, yes! But if she ever gets married-lets say to stedman- and have kids, would this kids bear her name or Stedman's name. I don't think so. That is why a male child is so important in the family.

WOW!!! that was quite an eye-opener man, sometimes I get stuck in some thoughts and don't think more broadly, you arevery right.
But then again there's the choice to adopt, and have them bear your name if it's so important.
Let's go off a different tangent, what about adoption, wouldn't a son that's adopted be able to carry on the family name??
