The seat she is after is currently held by a member of imprisoned opposition leader Kizza Besigye's party.

"By choosing to stand, she is exercising her democratic right," said Interior Minister Ruhakana Rugunda.

I am so HAPPY to learn that African women leaders are making great strides. Every country in Africa should work hard towards making women a part of their infrastructure.

Yeah, I can see the headlines now, "President Hilary Clinton; BUSTED WITH MALE PROSTITUTE IN THE OVAL OFFICE!!"

"PRES. CLINITON DESCRIBES HER ACTIONS AS NOT ORAL SEX, YET AN OLD TRADISHIONAL IRISH CLEANING METHOD CALLED O'GODOWNALD; TAUGHT TO HER BY HER GRANDMOTHER."

Most Ugandans me inclusive still wonder why she doesn't leave politics alone & stick to charity services and still remain a darling to many as has been the case. I personally feel Ugs shall start lookin at it as wantin to turn the State House into a family thing, now that their own son is quickly rising in the army ranks at a rare speed; with the hope that he'll either head the army or even inherit the BIG seat of Mr. Museveni.

that's funny. i don't know nothing about Ugandan politics but this sounds like the same thing people said about hillary. why is she interested in politics she should just stick with charity stuffs. well, what if she likes politics?!?!!? is that wrong? a first lady can NEVER have the desire for politics?!?!?!
