At Least 15 Die in Nigeria Cartoon Protest By NJADVARA MUSA,

Nigerian Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad attacked Christians and burned churches on Saturday, killing at least 15 people in the deadliest confrontation yet in the whirlwind of Muslim anger over the drawings.

It was the first major protest to erupt over the issue in Africa's most populous nation. An Associated Press reporter saw mobs of Muslim protesters swarm through the city center with machetes, sticks and iron rods. One group threw a tire around a man, poured gas on him and set him ablaze.

In Libya, the parliament suspended the interior minister after at least 11 people died when his security forces attacked rioters who torched the Italian consulate in Benghazi.

Right-wing Italian Reforms Minister Roberto Calderoli resigned under pressure, accused of fueling the fury in Benghazi by wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with one of the offending cartoons, first published in September in a Danish newspaper.

Why are the Northern muslims in Nigeria like that? I mean what is killing somebody else have done for them now. I hope they are now satisfied or maybe they still want more killing. This is pure ignorance!

Northerners like controvercies like dis so dat they can seize d oportunity 2 loot & kill innocent souls. Can u imagine dat b'cuz Naija wanted 2 host d miss world beauty pageant some years back, riot broke out, resulting 2 d lost of property & life by many christians. May God have mercy on our muslim bros.

What 'll one do vince? especially when u're born there (like me in Kaduna). I just cant imagine myself living outside Kaduna when i visit Naija

How many of these people protesting actually saw the cartoon? Are they protest what they know or what chief Imam pass on to them? I bet islam is still a peaceful religion! Many artist painted the Last Supper a gay super and not a single blood was spilled.

Since it's clearly obvious that the Northerners as an whole are light-years behind the southies in most all spheres of life... with little to no desire to change their aimless ways, I say perhaps the southies should really begin to consider pushing for a Chang of the nation's governing system from that of an federation to an confederacy. In this way the Northerners can go about their sloppy business without dragging down the progressive south with it. What do you think?

Well, as of right now Abuja is a place to go for everybody. Honestly, I have not seen what would make me go over there. I mean, everytime you read Naija news it's either they are killing the easterners based on religious belief or something else. They are not making it possible for Nigeria to grow as a nation. It's sad, really, it's very sad!
