You really have no idea what you're talking about. So, let's see... the only way to correct a 'wrong' done by a dictator in a 'democratic coat' is to bring in another dictator?? Who ever told you that two wrongs make right, if at all there is an ongoing neglected wrong?

Dictators do not suggest or ask for people's opinion, they impose their will on whoever is below them, and THAT is not what I see OBJ doing. He's shown interest in running for third term, supposedly with the aim of finishing what he started, which isn't necessarily a bad idea if you ask me. He is not forcing that interest on people; he is NOT the lawmaker, neither is he the law, as opposed to dictators ARE in fact the laws themselves. What I see him doing is trying to convince folks, not force them.

In less than a decade, Nigeria has gained a positive international recognition, various countries are interested in investing into our markets, many local industries are finally seeing the light and aren't restricted with former military rules. People (including the press) are free to be creative and voice out their opinion without the worries of being thrown into prison for life or even get killed! World leading countries are finally reopening up their doors for business opportunities. Several illegalities like circulation of fake unhealthy drugs, improper funds management, unaccountability, are all brought under control!

My friend, it takes someone who's been there and experienced that, to know what he's talking about. The mess done by the past dictators isn’t something you easily amend in 8 or even 12 years, but someone needs to start somewhere and make sure he finishes each stage. Obasanjo has put in place many active bodies and hardworking personnel who are still gaining their grounds. If he leaves without having someone trustworthy to replace him and maintain that vision, it’ll bring us all back to square one! We need someone better to carry on in the democratic office, and if nobody has the guts to rise up to the expectations, then he (OBJ) might as well carry on. But one truth remains: he can try as much as he can, at the end of the day, the masses will be the ones to decide who takes the sit. And I bet you 99% of the masses want no military regime.

It is a game o IMHO. Nigeria a s a nation has been a bad joke and a sad game ever since independence. We've had clowns masquerading as leaders, rulers who are detached from reality. They all live in a parallel universe or as my son would say, in a game universe. Let them finish playing their stupid games and self destruct so that REAL leaders will emerge to solve our very REAL problems. BTW, innocent lives have been lost in 1000's during OBJ's administration and before that. It is these cries of innocent ppl's blood that will finally be heard by GOD and it won't be long. We LIVE in very interesting times. Watch out for July and August this yr. A lot will happen from then on.

You just played that pikin like a piccolo, Playa!! Planning on pushing for a Naija political position in the future, Pete? Cause you have the perfect poise, points, pride and prime-posturing for political prominence to possibly push a pretty good amount of those posh political punks out of political power, and their puppet partners too, pronto, Playa-Pete. I'd vote for you, if I could.

Thank ya, thank ya, but I'm flattered. It takes more than one determined honest leader to lead any country, and Nigeria in particular.

OBJ won't seek a third-term as is being alleged by both the local and foreign media. Not that I personally will have a problem with him deciding to run again. But the bobo knows that doing so will soil his rep. as the ONLY naija military leader to ever voluntarily hand over power to a democratically elected govt., back in '79. And he's very keen on keeping his considerably favourable and respectable international stature. One thing's almost certain though, whoever takes over from him won't have as much clouth, will, or REAL power to stir that nation in the right direction. We gotta consider that Naija is an extremely difficult country to rule [with its ethno-religious divisions and other problems] and whoever's gonna assume the mantle/responsibility of governing that land's gotta have real tough skin and stubborness [in the face of any opposition] in order to bring his vision and programs to fruition and remain focused. OBJ has all that; he's very strong-willed and his 'no shaking' attitude is just what naija needs as a nation. Forget all the noise about 'democracy' abeg, naija isn't/will not be ready to practise democracy, atleast by Western standards, for atleast another five decades. For now, atleast, we need a 'benevolent dictator' of sorts, who's willing to impose himself on the political landscape in order to effect necessary changes. Before anything good can start happening in naija, the nation first of all needs to be reoriented and sanitized. To his credit, imo, OBJ has to be one of the very few detribalized leaders that country's ever/will ever produce.

Good talk, lafem. You have said it all.A "benevolent dictator" is what we need right now,and a lot of folks here fail to understand that.
