Tributes poured in torrents when members of the literary community of Lagos extraction, last Wednesday, held an evening of tributes in honour of one of Africa’s prolific playwrights and literary icon, Professor Femi Osofisan. The event tagged Osofisan at 60: Celebrating a Life in Arts and Commitment was hosted by Jazzhole, the fast rising jazz and literary club on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. It was one of the activities lined up for the celebration of Osofisan who clocked 60 last Friday.

Jazzhole, true to its name, holed up the literati family, friends and acolytes of Osofisan and had the trappings of a celebration. Although the evening was devoid of the pomp and feasting that are hallmarks of many of today’s riche, yet for the audience and the celebrity, it was an evening of fulfillment.
