He butchered a nine-year-old boy and blamed it on a demonic spirit


A bizarre incident recently took place in the little village of Ikot Umo Edem in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River State. It was the beheading and butchery of a nine-year-old boy, Moses David Umo.

Moses’s head and legs were found in the possession of one Ekwere Edem Okon, a 20-year-old miscreant in the area.
The late Moses, a Primary Two pupil in Atimbo, was on holiday with his mother, Iquo Asuquo Okon when the incident happened.
The mother told Daily Sun that she sent Moses to the farm on the fateful day to harvest pumpkin, adding that when her son got to the house of one Edem Okon, he was apprehended and taken to a nearby bush and hacked to pieces.

A woman called Ma Nne, was said to have heard the little boy’s cry in the bush and rushed to see what was happening. To her suprise, she saw Ekwere dismembering the nine-year-old boy.
She alleged that when Ekwere saw her, he attempted to kill her, but she ran away and raised alarm. When Ekwere was eventually apprehended, he was found with the head and legs of the deceased.

Moses’s mother said: "I don’t know why he decided to kill my son. When the village council asked him, he said it was a demonic spirit that pushed him to kill the nine-year-old boy".
The village head of Ikot Umo Edem, Chief Felix Etim Edem said that before the ugly incident, Ekwere was seen digging a grave. When accosted, he said he was trying to trap rabbits.

Said he: "When they saw the young man digging the grave, they brought him to me and I asked him why he was digging the grave, he said his mother sent him to clear weeds in the farm. Since his mother had traveled to Port Harcourt, we allowed him to go pending when she would be back. It was the next day that we caught him in this devilish act".

Chief Felix Etim Edem frowned at the non-presence of police in his village. He said that if there was adequate patrol in the place, the bizarre incident would not have taken place.
Meanwhile, the little boy’s corpse has been embalmed and kept in the mortuary, while the culprit has been arrested and detained by the police.

the villagers should have butchered the man the same way he did to the boy..... at a closer look the small boy look like (ekwere) the killer
