The police in Benin, Edo state, have arrested a 38 year –old commercial Motor Cyclist, Anthony Omoruyi for alleged murder.
Sunday Sun learnt that the suspect had last Wednesday invited her long time lover, Mrs. Helen Aganmwonyi, 36, who later turned out to be his own cousin, to his one room apartment located at 37, Esogban street, off Saint Saviour Road and murdered her.
Police sources disclosed that though both the suspect and the victim had a wife and husband respectively, but they continued their illicit affair but, the suspect later found out that each time he wanted to make love to his wife, his manhood would fail him whereas anytime he was with Helen the manhood would function.
According to the police, it was in an attempt to end the relationship, especially when he discovered that he and Helen were cousins, that the suspect, Omoruyi , invited Helen to his apartment and stabbed her to death.
It was gathered that after he had stabbed the lady, the suspect in panic, wanted to revive her and called in his patent medicine dealer and Nurse, Friday Eguavoen, 37, who eventually assisted him to take the body of the victim in a vehicle with they allegedly dumped her in the bush.
The lid on the crime was however said to have been blown open when a younger brother of the suspect came to his apartment and found a pool of blood which made him to race alarm.
Consequently, Omoruyi who was said to have moved into the apartment March this year, was apprehended by his landlord before the police was called in.
Mean while, his Nurse- friend who assisted him in dumping the victim’s body has been arrested, while the victim’s body has been taking to the mortuary, according to Edo State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Peter Ogboi who confirmed the story. He said at the end of investigation the suspect would be taken to court.
