Renowned parasychologist, Professor Gabriel Okonzua is dead.
He was said to have died Monday last week in his Gbagada, Lagos residence at the age of 92.
Though he died after battling with an ailment for about two weeks, his death has however, been concealed by the family after members of one of the occult groups Okonzua belonged warned the relations to remain silent on the death.
Sources close to the family told Daily Sun that the group’s members argued that Okonzua was not dead, as he was “merely on transition from one spirit world to another.”
According to the sources, Okonzua who had thrilled Nigerians with his many prophesies and his claims on life in the spirit world, was under medical attention in an undisclosed hospital for about two weeks.
He was however, discharged on Saturday September 2 after doctors ascertained that his health had stabilised.
The stability did not last as his health nose-dived on Monday, September 4.
Daily Sun learnt that soon after he took ill Monday, he passed on before medical attention could get to him. His corpse was said to have been immediately moved to the Gbagada General Hospital mortuary.
Though efforts to reach his two daughters, Mrs Olufunmilayo Osazua and Mrs Olakunbi Ikponwonsa Agbede on the development failed, sources within the family however disclosed that “burial arrangements are being slowed down because of the interests of a lot of groups but already we holding meetings in that respect.”
It was gathered that there are no indications about his death around his house in Gbagada as some cult members were said to have kept telling family members that the parasychologist was not dead as he was bound to return after his present transition through another spirit world.
Prominent among his claims in his interviews with Daily Sun was that witches pulled down Bellview plane which crashed in Lisa village, Ogun State few months ago.
He also claimed in the same publication that he spoke with the late first lady, Chief (Mrs) Stella Obasanjo after her deaths while in another interview he stated that the nation’s currency notes were only ordinary paper without value as necessary spiritual consultations were not made before their design and printing.
