You're right. I don't think he's 140. There must have been a mistake somewhere.

The unfortunate thing is that nobody has the right to base his/her disagreement with the man's age only on speculation and a mental judgement using his physical appearance.Afterall, there are people today who use various forms of anti-ageing aids in an attempt to buy their youth back!!.

You know how we can guage his age? Is to find out the ages of his children..I mean if his child is like 70, then that means he gave birth to him/her at 70..prolly there would be some proofs to show his age...I mean if pictures of 40yrs ago he was wearing bell bottom pants and high shoes and afro hair then w'd question it.

One lady died and her family said she was 95yrs old and he first child is like 40....something like that is questionable esp when you see their pics dating back to the 40yrs of their kids with those latest attires then.

na my own i talk,i disagree with this mans age based on the fact that he cant remember the year he was born and is using festivals to tell us so.he should tell us which festival and what year the festival started and what time of the festival he was born.he cannot be nigerias oldest man if he cannot prove that he is 140yrs of age!!

Pa Nwaeze could be termed a unique man. At 140, he still practices his vocation: herbal medicine. He has five wives and scores of children.

Background

My name is Ozo Ezegwuja Nwaeze of Owerre Ugwu Edem-Ani in, Edem, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.
God knows the eldest, but I am sure to be the eldest in two communities.
During our own days (years back) we counted on festivals. I am sure that I am above 140 years old.

Do you still remember a particular festival you were born?
Yes. The Omaba and Egba Chukwu festival.
Being an elderly person do you face or experience any challenge from the ancestors?
No. I believe uprightness has a big role in the life span of every individual. I do them no wrong. I am not partial. I don’t support evil, that is why the ancestors don’t challenge me. I call a spade a spade.

Are you a Christian, Muslim or traditionalist?
I am a traditionalist, but I believe in “Chukwuabiama” (Almighty God). I worship Him in my house.
Being a traditionalist you must have married more than one wife. Right?
(Laughter) Yes, my daughter. I am married to five women with children.
I am in love with all of them. After all I married them with my money and so I must love them equally.

So how do you sustain them?
I used to be a farmer those days and a herbalist, after each farming season, I sell some of the produce and keep some back in my ban for the up keep of the family.

You said you are also a herbalist, which area do you specialize in?
Well, people misconceive the idea of being a herbalist, may be because some people engage in some dirty act. I specialize in helping people out of their various problems.
I used to accompany my late father to the bush each time he went out for the stuff (the herbs).

What are some of the problems people come to you with?
They come with different kinds of sicknesses and other life’s problems. I charge them handsomely. That’s part of how I sustain my family.

Can you still see clearly?
Yes, I see clearly and I hear clearly. However I have very sensitive senses to recognize my children by their voices.

What is your favourite food?
I like pounded yam and Ogbonno soup as an Ozo holder.

What is your vision of life
My vision is for everybody to live and prosper in the fear of Chukwuabiama.
How many more years would you want God to add to your life span?
I am ready to meet him any time any how because I have accomplished my responsibilities here on earth and I am happy my children are progressing too.

This is Nigerian fabu!
Just another way to selll a Nigerian daily.

The simply fact is the old man does not know his age.

To find out, just ask him his age when Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe became the President of Nigeria.
