military coup in Nigeria would be unacceptable
The United States said that any military coup in Nigeria would be unacceptable, local media reported.
"Any military coup in Nigeria will not be acceptable. In fact, there is no possibility of that happening after eight years of civilian democracy," US Ambassador in Nigeria John Campbell was quoted as saying by Lagos-based The Guardian newspaper.
"But if there were a military coup, there would be a different texture in the bilateral ties between the two countries," he warned, adding: "Any coup against the rule of law will not be acceptable. The rule of law is very important."
US embassy officials, contacted Tuesday by AFP, said they were not immediately in a position to comment on the newspaper report.

FM mah main dawg, thanx bro.
On the real, I don't expect the American govt to do anything more than they did during my erstwhile namesake's reign.
We just need to get our act together or split up! If Naija won't live up to the title of "giant of Africa", then it should dissolve into several smaller polities.

They have the ability to maintain law and order which democratic governments in Africa usually struggle to maintain.
