Ben Okanume, now based in Port Harcourt returned from the United States in 2004, after a sojourn of 23 years. He had been separated from his wife and children in the United States. This happened 10 years ago on the wife's wishes. According to Okanume, his desire to be reunited with his family was shattered recently. News got to him that his wife of 21 years had been murdered in cold blood by armed robbers in Anambra State. These dare devil men carted away money, jewellery and her yet-to-be-registere d Toyota jeep.

The robbers were obviously trigger-happy. They also shot the legs of their victim's son and sister. Okanume, a PhD holder in mass communication said the nightmare worsened when he was detained by the police as a prime suspect. According to him, this period of detention was the time he needed to grieve over the death of his wife, Ifeoma.

Okanume said "life was fun until his mother-in-law came to the United States to stay with them. Ben alleged that she became overbearing and would want things done her way all the time. When the weight of the two women became too heavy for him in his house, he said he quietly packed his bag and left their Rivedale home in Maryland, and sojourned to Atlanta."

Even the thought of the atrocious murder of Ifeoma Virginia Nwabuba Okanume brings back tears to many peoples eyes. Many had been weeping and some are still crying right now. Our heads are arching badly and our hearts stuffed with bitterness, while our veins and arteries are over worked up to the point of educing high blood pressure. But all these bitterness and more violence will do nobody any good. Please, let there be peace.

We appealing to everybody to calm down, let’s in Almighty God’s name subdue all these circle of evils and violence.

Let’s do it in honor of our brutally murdered Okija daughter and in support of her three MOTHERLESS CHILDREN.

IFEOMA OKANUME SAGA CONTINUES***Back in America Ifeoma’s sorrowful and tormented life seems to be unending. For about nine months, she was uncomforted and all alone in the mortuary; she had about fourteen hours of unwanted fight from Nigeria to United States in the remote areas of different aircrafts where she was kept in the dark throughout the flights. Now, she is back in a mortuary in a funeral home in Washington, DC.

Our sorrows and pains are back. Viewing is today and on Monday 24th she will be buried, while her battered children will wept bitterly and un-consoled.
