Presidential Tribunal

As Nigerians and the world wait for the verdict of the election tribunal on Tuesday 26th Feb 2008,one is compelled to reflect on what it could mean for different people.Popular opinion is that the election that brought into power, the government of Yard'ua would be nullified.I was also of the opinion untill i stated to have a sudden gut feeling hence this thread.
I am beginning to believe that the election would NOT be nullified.Reasons like;for the promotion of a stable existence of Nigeria would be quoted and that would not be a bad reason methinks. The judgement would give Yar'dua a legitimate endorsement by the court but would leave him with a moral responsibility to organise henceforth, free and fair elections in Nigeria.
Whats your take?

Another unpredictable moment in the unstable political situation in Nigeria. I'm also waiting for the outcome. Maybe he'll bribe his way out of trouble.
If the election that brought Yar'Adua into power was rigged, then it should be annulled. It's as simple as that. You cannot rob million of people and then try to justify it in the name of "stability".

There is more to politics that meets the eyes. This tribunal verdict will affect electoral actions for generations to come. If the election is nullified, Nigerians being what we are, every other presidential elections that take place in the country from now on will eventually end up in the court. I think this is the time to let certain things slide in the interest of the nations honour. (I believe the tribunal will take these into consideration) But then, this is Naija. You never can tell.

President Yaradura will remain in his seat come tomorrow and will serve out his term. All of una who de wait for reversal of election make una ask America the leader of the free world what they did when GB stole the election.

If una want a perfect world the moon is available

I disagree with you, but I just have to laugh at the highlighted.

I disagree with the part about asking Bush how he won the election. If the democrats had overwhelming evidence that the election was rigged, I'm sure they would have annulled the election.
Even the observers confirmed the election was not free and fair.

@Meddeen,refferences are abound that democracy is not the system of government but the most people freindly. With a person like Bush as US president for 8years,we need no more proof about the assertion above.
Bush became president for the second term not because democrats had no proof but because the timing for court processes before the inauguaration got choked and revealed a sudden awareness of a development that never happened before. The US supreme court gave a verdict that saved a likely heating up of the polity and drift to instability more than any other reason for declearing Bush, legitimate winner. That is what would happen in the case of Yardua, methinks.

....I was watching the tribunal live on NTA a few minutes ago..and all that courtroom jargon made absolutely no sense to me.Dude kept reading references to section after section in another crossreference to article after article....it got tiring and boring...and never seemed like they would get to the koko of the matter.....I switched to Fox morning news...

On the first question of whether Ya' Ardua qualified to stand for election, the tribunal found in favor of the President.

more to come
