46 Nigerian Peacekeepers Killed
Nigeria's military says nearly four dozen soldiers have been killed only hours after returning home from peacekeeping duties in Sudan's Darfur region.
The military says the unit from the Army's 245th Battalion flew Wednesday from Darfur to the international airport in the capital, Abuja, and were heading back to home base by road when they got into the accident overnight.
Forty-six soldiers, including one officer, died in flames after a petroleum tanker collided with two troop-transport vehicles on the road in northern Nigeria.
President Umaru Yar'Adua's office says he regrets the loss, and is planning to cut short his trip to an African Union meeting in Tanzania.
A military burial is planned for Friday in Abuja

People are dying in Nigeria unnecessarily because accountability does not exist in our Country.
May their souls rest in peace.

They were safer in Darfur than on Nigerian roads!! I hate hate these types of stories. What a terrible loss of life!

We need to have a movement to resurrect brothers and sisters, not a funeral for niggers, cause niggers dont die

Its funny there is no speculation that the drivers might have been driving drunk ...or slept at the wheel or were maybe over speeding .....we just had to blame it on the Nigerian government.
The accident could have happened on a very good road ...but ofcourse the bad road theory would be more befitting since it involves soldiers returning from service.
Now if it were a certain type of actor/celebrity the former cause would suit the story ...blaming it on a bad road would not be sensational enough.
Our mix and match speculation on this website is amusing !!

People are dead. Someone's father, brother, husband, son is dead!! Who cares whether people on this site blame the government, roads or frozen yogurt??

And anyone, anyone, who has actually been home recently can tell you that the roads in the country, except in most parts of Abuja, are TERRIBLE!! The road from Abuja to Onitsha was unbelievable!! Simply unbelievable! I was like "wow!".................
It is not to sit here, on an internet website, and talk about people, who have seen these roads with their eyes and know what death traps they are for people wide awake and stone sober!

Most of those roads are so bad that If you survive travelling thru it You will shout Hallelujah. I know becauce I travel it recently Lagos-Ibadan-Abuja- Abuja- Akure. Lagos-Benin is the biggest dead trap of all. We were sitting in traffic for hours.I don't know how pple bear it. But those roads are death trap and it has wasted a lot of promissing life Includdings those that left to visit home. M ay those soldiers rest in peace.
