Controversy: The Obama's on the cover of the new yorker
The New Yorker magazine, which has been very supportive of Mr Obama's presidential campaign, said that its cover - entitled "The Politics of Fear" - was a composite parody of unfounded smears against the Illinois senator.
Drawn by Barry Blitt, the cartoon depicts the Obamas standing in the Oval Office in front of a fireplace in which an American flag burns. A picture of Osama bin Laden hangs over the mantelpiece.
Mr Obama, wearing sandals, a dishdasha robe and turban, is giving his wife a "fist bump" – a hip greeting that one Fox News presenter said had been dubbed a "terrorist fist jab".
Mrs Obama, in military fatigues, has an Afro hairstyle, AK47 over her shoulder and a bandolier of ammunition strung across her chest.

Believe me if you listen to different news channel these dummy white boys that call themselves news anchor has called Obama different names in pretense that his name is hard to differenciate.. Most times they even forget to put Senator before mentioning his name unlike Hillary that they will take time to even add her maiden after saying Senator..
I listen to news podcast online and it shows different news stations. There you get to see all these dummy reporters making useless insinuations about Obama.

There is another online community I am part of (I'm two timing NR) that is predominately republican and white. So their political threads are VERY interesting. Less government, anti underprivileged, etc, etc, all with a slight racial undertone (note, I didn't say racist).
They posted this article and for the most part they actually condenmed it! They didn't think is was appropriate. But not for the reason we might. However one of them said something that struck me. That there is a segment of America that believes the cover represents what is really true about Obama!
Amazing. In this day and age of limitless information available that people would choose to believe incorrect and false information, just because...
It is interesting to read their comments. Their perspective is VERY different from us here on NR....

Ride Natty Ride - B. Marley
Rub, rub, rubby-doo-day;
Rum-pum-pum a-rum-pum-pum-pum!
Dready got a job to do
And he's got to fulfill that mission
To see his hurt is their greatest ambition, yeah!
But-a we will survive in this world of competition,
'Cause no matter what they do
Natty keep on comin'through,
And no matter what they say-ay-ay-ay,
Natty de deh every day. yeah!
Natty Dread rides again,
Through the mystics of tomorrow,
Natty Dread rides again:
Have no fear, have no sorrow, yeah!
All and all you see a-gwan
Is to fight against Rastaman.
So they build their world in great confusion
To force on us the devil's illusion.
But the stone that the builder refuse
Shall be the head cornerstone,
And no matter what game they play,
Eh, we got something they could never take away;
We got something they could never take away:
And it's the fire (fire), it's the fire (fire)
That's burning down everything:
Feel that fire (fire), the fire (fire);
Only the birds have their wings, yeah!
No time to be deceived.
Oh, brothers, you should know and not believe:
Jah say this judgement - it could never be with water,
No water could put out this fire (fire):
This fire (fire), this fire (fire),
This fire (fire), a yaga y'all! Ride, Natty, ride!
Go deh, Dready, go deh,
'Cause now the fire is out of control,
Panic in the city, wicked weeping for their gold!
Everywhere this fiyah is burning,
Destroying and melting their gold,
Destroying and waisting their souls.
Go ride, Natty, ride!
Go deh, Dready! Go deh!
Tell you what: now the people gather on the beach
And the leader try to make a speech,
But the Dreadies understandin' that it's too late:
Fire is burning;
Man, pull your own weight!
Fiyah is burning;
Man, pull your own weight!
Natty Dread rides again (Natty Dread rides again);
And me say, Go deh, Dready! Go deh! (go deh, go deh)
Oh ride, Natty, ride! (Dread rides again)
And go deh, Dready! (Go deh, go deh)
Ridin' through the storm,
Riding through the calm (go deh, go deh).
Oh ride, Natty, ride!
Go deh, Dready, go deh!
Ride, Natty, ride!
Go deh, Dready, do deh! /fadeout/
[*Sleeve notes:
We riding thru the thick;
We riding thru the thin;
Ride Natty, ride Natty.]

sidney i was listening to anderson 360 and he had a man on the streets interviewing people about the cover...one woman actually believed it, said she thought the magazine was breaking a story that obama was muslim and radical.
another woman said it was tasteless...
roland martin thinks he should address it, another panelist...oh gosh, his name escapes me...thinks that he shouldn't. he should focus on his campaign and let this die down (i'm paraphrasing)
i don't know what i think yet...i don't think we need another speech right now, i mean, how many speeches is he going to give to say that he is not a muslim or a radical.
maybe he should make brief comments when asked? something along the lines of...The New Yorker has lost its mind?
and let his campaign people handle this?
the new yorker editor has said that this was too over the top and that if no one gets it, then they don't but that he is not going to retract it.
what do you all think he should do?
should he address or no?
