Aust-Nne, thanks for the link.

But na wa o...i knew things were bad in that place but i never knew they were this bad. I used to think these people were a nuisance & disgrace to our people and that they give a bad image about our country. Now i think differently. How i wish those yeye top govt officials could spend a day in those communities and see/feel what it's like there.

Something really needs to be done about this situation cos it's getting out of hand. They should sue the govt & gas companies in the international courts, i think.

you r welcome Simi...

I forwarded this link and a few photos from Adaures blog to my colleagues at work and they were shocked They confessed to hearing about the militants kidnapping expats and the protests by groups concerning the damages done to the country by oil company but NEVER understood why or the severity of the issue. They thought it was all corruption as usual

Things like this would definitely enlighten the world alot more.

Thanks for sharing Austy. I haven't finished watching but what is clear is, we have very foolish people in Government. Whatever the oil companies do, is a reflection of what the Government allow them do.

During Duke's campaign, he kept on talking about using the gas for generating electricity, something that will be beneficial to the entire country and yet we had Uncle Sege sinking what was it, 18billion into so-called energy generation.

I totally admire the peaceful yet productive way these guys are going about this. I will forward this to as many people as I know.

Good observation CG
I attended a gas conference April this year in Sheraton Abuja. It was talks like flaring would stop the next day.NNPC gave it squarely to the Oil companies as the ones that are responsibility for this rape on humanity.Gasprom was in attendance and presented a wonderful paper on how to covert the flares to gas and use it to provide the much needed electricity for Nigeria.A communique was issued afterwards,Shell and other companies given till end of year 2008 and the responsibility of sourcing for and using bioremidiation methods to cleanse the effected soil given to the OIL COMPANIES and NOT the Federal government.
How come,Shell is sitting comfortably in Den Haag passing the buck to Nigeria for evil Shell started in the first place.?
Nigerian government is too soft on these guys and it pains me.With her massive deposits of oil,USA has avoided exploration because of issues like this but the companies head to Africa where they have little or no obstacle to messing the lives of the oil producing arears.Very sad indeed and like someone said in the video, what happens when the wells are dry?
Abeg make MEND continue to mend the idiots

Hey Papino, you know a representative for the company I work for was also at a similar gas conference last year and when my CEO was asked about his thoughts on reducing the gas flaring and how it would affect the way we do our work...he made a very bad statement like this "Nigeria says they are going to reduce flaring by X%, i dont see that happening...they are more of a talking nation than doing nation...how can they say they would reduce oil flaring by 2008 when there is no procedure in place for it, do you know how much production is going on in that country"..For real...he prolly never knew a Nigerian was there.....

I have my own opinion on this matter, but lets leave it at that......I refused to work for Shell and would never ever work for them in my lifetime.

I am beginning to fully realize the truth of this statement and it has made me rethink a lot of things lately.

Without our (Nigeria) help, the Oil Conglomerates wouldn’t be able to rape and desecrate our virgin lands. We make laws that are never enforced. We have elders, community leaders and Governments officials that don't see any good in protecting the interests of fellow citizens entrusted in their care.
