Damn this is a really good pick!!!

"Palin, 44, is a reform-minded governor in Alaska who's challenged the party's old guard, attacked pork-barrel spending and taken a keen interest in energy and environmental issues. A former Miss Alaska runnerup, Palin hold a degree in journalism and has five children, including one with Down Syndrome.

If Palin is selected, it could indicate a strategy on McCain's part to siphon off women voters disaffected by Sen. Hillary Clinton's loss in the Democratic primaries to Obama, D-Ill. "

This is a desperate attempt by Mc-Same to win over the Clinton voters. I believe it's a good choice for Obama for the following reasons:

1) The Republican argument of Obama being inexperienced clearly goes out of the window with this choice. She's younger than Obama, lacks experience with regards to international relations & she's a relative unknown outside Alaska.

2) Even the most disgruntled Hillary Clinton female supporter will think twice before voting for her. She's pro-life like Mc-Same, and shares absolutely the same sentiments or policies as Mc-Same. If given the power she's in favour or overturning Roe v Wade (the most significant abortion case in the US).

Good points Med!! I'm calming down and thinking a little clearer...

Biden needs to tear her up in the VP debates... He is clearly more qualified to be President than she is. She also better deliver in her acceptance speech at the GOP convention....

The Clinton supporters are NOT going to look at the fact that
1. she is younger than obama
2. she is less experienced than obama
3. she is pro-life
4. she is relatively unknown outside of Alaska

All they are going to see is that MCCAIN CHOSE A WOMAN AS HIS RUNNING MATE

Smart move on mccain's part.
he's now going to get some of that 18 Million cracks over to his side.

Let's see... Hilary supporters are that first, Hilary supporters! So if she or Bill point out these differences during the campaign, the message will get through..

Plus, unless they are hoping McCain keels over, it is his presidency and his policies they will be voting for. Not hers.

my guy, these people are not looking at the policies, if they were, why would they vehemently state that they are going to vote for MCCAIN rather than Obama when clinton was clearly not going to be the nominee?

they are clearly being ruled by emotions right now, and who knows if that will allow them to hear anything the clintons have to say?
i was listening to a radio station yesterday afternoon and a couple of clinton supporters intereviewed stated that they were still not convinced that obama was good choice and they were still thinking of voting for mccain or staying home.

this was just yesterday!
i'll try to catch the radio program again today to see if obama's speech made any difference.

I still think that the majority of true Hilary supportes love her, not just any woman, but her. Those that want to vote for McCain were going to do so because Hilary, specifically, wasn't going to be the nominee, and not because a woman wasn't on the ticket. And they said this before he chose a woman.

Even if it wasn't policy, it was less about gender, than it is about Hilary, specifically. If it was about gender, Elizabeth Dole, who ran for president back in 2000 would have made a bigger splash.
