American Idol sef na copy-cat cos na dem steal Pop Idol. Most of the reality shows sef america dey copy from Uk, eg Wife Swap, Queer Eye for the Straight guy copied from british version Fairy Godfathers, Survivor etc etc
So naija no be dem start copy-cat for that one. Besides the organizers bought the franchise from the original Idol trademark owners.

So is this now about Nigerian Idol or about copy-cating?
Anyways I find it good, when they do such shows! We have so many talents in Naija that simply just need one single chance to make something out of themseleves. Not everybody was born to be a doctor

There's no copy-cat anything. The Idol template was originally developed by Simon Fuller. THE FIRST VERSION WAS 'Pop Idol' in the UK and it Is now like a FRANCHISE that has been exported to so many other countries in the world-SA, America, Arab countries, Sweden, Australia, Norway......so why not Nigeria? It is actually a good thing for us especially in this era of globalisation. If Naija, SA and other African nations have their versions then we could also have an African idol/Superstar contest (thank God for GSM phones to help with voting) which will help integrate our entertainment industry and ofcourse offer bigger record sales. Up Naija! na small, small. e go bera.
