On Sunday, July 5, a drama ensued between men who posed as learners whereas they were armed robbers and motorists at Sango Ota, Ogun State.

Around 6pm, there was this traffic jam that made cars stand still for over 30 minutes. Right in front of a Toyota Corrola was a Nissan car with the tag L, which means the driver of the vehicle is just learning how to drive.

The occupants of the Toyota Corrola were upset with the way the driver of the Nissan car drove and even wondered why a learner should drive on a major road when he knows he's not perfect.

"I was angry when I saw the slow rate at which the driver of the Nissan car drove and was even telling my friends in the car why he would drive on a busy road when he's still learning to drive", Olusegun Ajao, the driver of the Toyota Corrola said.

Contrary to what he thought, the occupants of the car who numbered 5 were actually armed robbers looking for the best way to dispossess their victims of their belongings and even cars. An opportunity came when a lorry broke down and everyone had to wait patiently since the road was a narrow one and an alternative to the deplorable state of Sango-Ota.

According to Ajao, who was one of their victims, "It was like a scene in a movie. The driver of the Nissan car alighted from the car and lifted up a gun and majestically looked back to see how long the queue of cars behind them was. In a jiffy, the four remaining occupants alighted and lifted their guns to the sky and shot sporadically to make a statement that they were in control. No one could run because of the traffic jam and no one could come out of their cars for fear of being shot. The robbers seized the opportunity and dispossessed a lot people of money, mobile phones, jewellry and they did it without fear. Funny enough, they all wore dark sunglasses but even without the glasses, who would dare look a robber in the face," he narrated to Daily Independent.

Motorists are hereby advised to be wary of cars with the L tag especially if the occupants are more than 2 whether male or female since this is the latest antics of robbers to catch their victims unawares.

Meanwhile, residents are hereby pleading with the relevant security agencies to come to their aid and put a stop to the menace of armed robbers.
