Best music video is one I watched the other day on Ben TV by a group called Infinity. The title of the song was 'Oloko Nbo'. The video was excellent, a real breath of fresh air.
The song was exceptional as well. It is obvious these guys knows their stuff.
Makes a change from the usual, Artist singing in Festac Town (My beloved Festac Town, which is where a lot of videos are shot) with people, including children standing behind the Artist and the Artist/people are just there standing/running around! A certain.. 'yes oo,' guy comes to mind! But he's certainly not the only one.
Worst video: Any with similar discription as above. With the Artist singing reggae with fake Patoi, wearing Jamaican colour wrist bands, pretending to be a Jamaican.
Why oh why do some of our Artist do this? Do they not realise most Jamaicans make fun of these antics? *hisses* So embarassing!

..U have a point there...I dont have a problem with Nigerians diverting into other cultures for music as long as they dont end up thinking U have to pretend to be a member of that culture to do the music...unless..of course..U can pull it off like they do.The funny part of it is that even when some of these cats spit they spit like an old archaic style of Patois...I once heard a guy that released a song last year chanting like the Chakademus of 1997...Nna..I just laughed it off and gave him some credit for trying...

I could kiss you for that comment! You are so right! It always grates me off when I see our artist especially those who haven't set foot outside the country try so hard to act American or Jamaican and yes their Patoi sucks big time. Only the other day, I was watching the Mr. Nigeria contest on BEN and African china came on and this guy was trying to speak Patoi. My oh my, did he embarass me or what! And you know there were bound to be Jamaican in the audience who would have been laughing their heads off!
Anyhoo, my favourite Naija video as Tiron said up there is the guys that sang Oloko Mbo or something like that. It was original. Very African and at the same time contemporary. Another one is Dbanj's "Why me" and Eldee's 'Champion'. There are a few more but i'll stick to those for now.

Paj, It's the speaking in Patois that particularly gets me. To all the Nigerian Artists guilty of this, please, on behalf of the sensible and proud Nigerians in the UK, please stop it!!! You are embarassing us.

Peaches, I think maybe only those of us living in the UK can actually understand how it feels with regards to some of our Artists imitating Jamaicans. Anyway, your choice of music videos are excellent. Dbanj's is good.
