why is it that people ignore the "handle what's in your backyard first" bit?

all i'm saying is that the boy's got a point. everybody's doing it so why is he the poster child??? if it's so wrong, start by telling the people you know that have multiple baby mamas and thus babies, to quit it. speak out when everyone else is doing it not when your singers/entertainers do it and then shut your eye every other day. everyone talking now, where were they before?

I laugh when akon goes abroad and talks outta his mouth and people start getting all pissy abourrit when we know it's true the things he says, when we all know we grew up and the young ones are still growing up with these things that are the norms in our society.

It's not beyond Tuface. It is WITH Tuface. It is his responsibilty to use protection. It is not MKO's, it is not mine, it is not FunmiBaby's and society will not put the condom on him for him before he nacks. Haba.

If you had a child that you knew had potential but was failing in school, would you say that it was okay because all his friends were failing also. No. You would make sure that he knows that he should work harder. Do what you know he can do to improve and not dare come home with another bad report card.

2 Face is inexcusable under this circumstance.

Handle what's in our backyard? ... Right now 2 Face is in my backyard and I'm trying to handle his case with the little I can contribute (and that is to speak up.) MKO and his oldie types were in my father and his oldie types' backyard, and they spoke nothing against their actions, that is why people like 2 face think they can borrow a leaf from them.

Hell no!... 2 Face is wrong!.. wrong!! ... wrong!!!

Like I said before, he better check himself before he wreck himself.

Funmi, how do you start to change a society? One at a time. So is Bill Cosby and Barack Obama off base for critizing dead beat fathers? Or they should allow them since those very dead beat dad grew up in fatherless? It is societal? No need to take responsibilty because others are doing it?

I'll slam my brother, my uncle, my friend, or anyone else who continually excerises poor judgement. Just because he is a celebrity does not make him exonerated from the ridicule I would heap on my brother or relative if they made the same mistakes.

It is actually the fact that he is a celebrity and that you like him that makes you remotely defending him here on NR. I don't see you defending ex NBA player Shawn Kemp... 11 children from 9 women. Or others like him hanging out on every street corner in the world.

Suppose he started beating his women. Is that ok? With your logic it should be acceptable if it can be proven that other men, within the Nigerian society, beat their women as well.. So it won't be only Tuface's fault.. It's society....

again.........ALL i've been saying since is that i think you start to change a society by starting in your very own home, your own backyard, your own street, your own local government. and i meant that literally. Tuface is NOT in anyone's backyard (as far as i know anyway). how can i start to bash tuface when i know my own uncle has many children from several women and he's not alone. i haven't even affected my own immediate environment, how can I come on here and start talking about Tuface is wrong this, Tuface is wrong that. Sid - I would never criticize Shawn Kemp on the other hand either, especially if he was nigerian or lived in nigeria. sorry. Also, I've heard it said, tuface believes whom he loves and how they decide to have and keep their children is nobody's business. Pero and Annie and Tuface have history together. One of them has even fought her own family to be with him. Okay, if they say the child was intentional, you would be fine then?

Sifu - i read your analogy like this. your child is getting bad grades, but down the street is your streetmate's child who's the star basketball player, he's also getting bad grades. you decide to carry placard that that child should be beaten in a public square, what rubbish. meanwhile your child is also getting bad grades o. that doesn't make sense to me. sorry. i won't carry your placard with you.

you do have a point at the bolded...i wish an NGO or somebody will take that anambara state governor to task and let the world know that banning condoms is a very stupid (sorry, but i can't think of a much stronger word) thing and decision.

but funmibaby, in a way, whether he likes it or not, tuface is now a celebrity and in the public eye and a lot of kids, i suspect, are looking up to him.
as much as we would like to clean up our backyard, start with the man in the mirror, to make a change, we must also take a hard look at the people influencing our kids, and tuface is one of those.

popping out kids as if they were candy, is not a very good picture to paint of himself. the younger generation is looking at him.

oh well...i will continue talking to my younger brothers and cousins, as well as my son when he comes of age, let them know what i think is right or wrong.
