.I was a little disappointed with the scoreline but much credit has to be given to Adjei for making it a respectable loss for Ghana.
.Our coaching staff needs to have a realistic approach to the notion that though Nigeria packs a formidable firepower upfront,no magic will happen unless the midfield can make smoother transitions to the strikers.
.Much as I applaud Oruma's energy and defensive tenacity in the midfield,he does not possess the offensive vision of a Kanu,Okocha or Obi for that delicate final touch required to unleash our strikers. That partly kept Ghana in the game.
.That said..I still give Kudos to Oruma because he played much better than I've seen him play for Nigeria before.
.We need to sort out a better way to use Odemwingie..I have a feeling he could've been much more dangerous in a slightly different role..but not as a winger.
.Unforced errors in defence twice could've been expensive...we need to watch that!
.I still believe Aghahowa and Martins are our best options upfront..we just need to find ways to feed these guys the ball.If they had half the chances that Senegal's midfield created yesterday Ghana'd have gone home with an 0-4 goalline..period!
.
Why in the world did it take the coaching staff 81 minutes to make a change when it became obvious @ the end of the first half that our midfield wasnt give the offence the bite it needed? A FOREIGN COACH WOULD HAVE DONE THAT MUCH EARLIER..DAMMIT!
.We need to be sharper against a more formidable opponent. All the talk about some yeye historically tense matches between Nigeria and Ghana was no excuse for a 1-0 scoreline against a team we dominated..we simply did not take advantage of a weakened team..thanks to coaching staff selection and substituion timing.
.It was an ugly win..but I'm still glad we won..
