Should Diouf go to hell?
I just read this on Ghanaweb...what do you guys think?
*********************************************
Alhaji Diouf of senegal is quoted as saying that the wrong African teams will be representing Africa at the next World Cup while the better ones stay at home.
I see Diouf as only a loud-mouthed over-confident guy. He should tell the world where his country was before they qualified for the World Cup out of nowhere. Even when they hosted the CAN tournament in 1992 where did they reach? Their best achievement in Africa is a silver medal whereas Ghana has four gold and three silver (one of which was won in his own backyard) to its credit. Before they qualified for the 2002 World Cup who knew Diouf and Senegal in world or even African football?
They have qualified for the World Cup once, but so also have we. If he thinks they are superior in Africa and deserved to participate in the World Cup all they needed to do was to have beaten Togo. Instead, the best they could do was to lose 1-3 to them in the qualifiers. Congo, Zambia, Mali and Liberia were the other contestants in their group. This was no doubt the weakest group in the series.
He needs to be reminded that no team was selected to represent Africa. They all qualified on merit, by beating the teams Diouf thinks should have been in Germany.

Just one of those mishaps. Some of the teams representing Africa are yet prove themselves strong in the ANC.
The good ones messed up.

I'm very disappointed at El Hajj Diouf. I've lived in Dakar (the capital of Senegal) and I can tell you that he's not as popular as he appears to be. Many Senegalese blaim him for their country's football misfortune and they adore Khalilou Fadiga. Most Senegalese youths I spoke with in Dakar told me Diouf is a very rude guy who's giving Senegal a bad name. The two spitting incidents and all that.
About Ghana going to the world cup, maybe he's forgeting that Ghana are one of the traditional powers in African football. In addition to the numerous football honours you've listed, Ghana is also the first African country to win a medal for football at the Olympic (bronze in Barcelona92). I remember the comments of the editor of world soccer magazine when Ghana qualified for the world cup. He told skysports that "the entire world have been waiting for Ghana to finally represent Africa at the world cup, after being in under17 and under20 world cup finals". Ghana is a well respected football nation.

And Ghana beat them with a depleted squad with so many injuries. Even Stephen Appiah wasn't fully fit. There was no Essien, Muntari, Gyan.
Senegal had all their players available, El Hajj Diouf (Bolton), Papa Buba Diop (Fulham), Henri Camara (Wigan), Diomansy Kamara (West Brom), Mamadou Niang (Marseille) even Habib Beye (Marseille). Ghana have been brilliant so far.

Diouf is just not a serious person. Honestly, even though most of the teams that qualified for WC are getting knocked out, I believe they'd do their home work and show the rest of the world what they are capable of. The world will be surprised cus the un-expected will happen.

Any player that Chelsea and Manchester United are fighting over must be a good player, but Obi is an very good player. He was brilliant today.
I can also confirm to you that Nigeria will not win the nations cup. They're not playing well and Zimbabwe dominated some periods of the game. Cameroon will humiliate Nigeria if they meet. The only advantage Nigeria will have is Okocha, they better pray he recovers.

The only thing that will stop Ghana from reaching the knockout stages of the world cup is injuries. Ghana have a very good team and they've proven that they've got the best defence in Africa. They nearly stopped Nigeria from scoring and they kept the Senegal attack quiet today.
