Lightbulb Good News For The Flying Eagles

Anichebe Is Ready To Play For Nigeria - Bosso

Interim coach of the National Under- 20 team, the Flying Eagles, Ladan Bosso has confirmed the readiness of Nigerian International and Everton of England young striker, Victor Anichebe to be part of the championship, in Canada 2007.

Bosso told leadership Sports that invitation has been extended to him and has confirmed his preparadness to be part of the squad that would campaign for honours at the World Cup.

Nigeria has only played in the finals of the World Youth Championship (under-20) twice since the inception of the aga grade competition in Saudi Arabia in 1989 and 2005 in Holland.

Coach Bosso who is in-charge of the team following the illness that befell the Chief Coach, Musa Abdullahi, said 10 foreign based players have been invited out of which only eight would be admitted into the team.

Although Coach Bosso could not name the invited professionals, Leadership sports gathered that some that played in Congo 2007 are part of the invitees. Among them are Zenke who plays in Belgium, Bala Ezekiel, Emmanuel Sarki and Oluwafemi.

He said other foreign professionals not invited who feel they are better than the invited and those within the age bracket who are interested to be part of the team to Canada are free to join the team in Germany, venue of the Eagles Training tour, but at their own expense.

"If they are able to displace the invited ones, they would be included in the team to Canada. The camping is going to be a game by elimination. We need the best to represent Nigeria in Canada. Most of the invited players from abroad are midfielders and complete finishers. My major work now is to subject the homebased defenders to serious blending. We are working on them to subject the home based defenders to serious blending. We are working on them to be able to put in effective defence strategies and blend with the professionals so that we can have a balanced team at the World Cup. Nigerians should not be worried, we will do our best in Canada.

Meanwhile, there are strong indications that the Nigeria Football Association, NFA may replace super Eagles head master, Mutiu Adepoju.
