Who Here Remembers Table Soccer???
...Maaaayn..those were the days!!!There used to be a "World Cup" competition in my area back then...each 'coach'(person) armed wiff im own 'team'(10 bottletops and a "Smarties" container cap for ya freekicks )...the "Venue" was under some tree wey dey Opere street and it was a carefully planned world cup! Everybody wanted to be 'Brazil' but of course we all cant,so some folks too pride in BEATING Brazil back then.chei!Forget Father Tiko or Mario Zagalo, some teams were obviously WELL COACHED!There was this friend of mine,Binebi, who's little brother(barely 13 years old ) kicked everybody's @$$ in Table soccer.Anytime...and I mean..ANYTIME..U go there house..dude would be in the backyard..."training" his squad! Everything from freekicks,to cornerkicks,to throw-ins,to penalty kicks,to long '40 yard' passes....dude was dedicated! Before I ramble on..abeg tell me sey no be only me sabi this experience for here? This was loooooooooong before Playstation..

And I remember your mother almost killed you for reaping all the buttons on your clothes to play table soccer..
Rubb cover used to be defender and attackers. It's ridiculous that there is even foul, free kick, penalty kick, off side in table soccer... How can a lifeless bottle cover keep offside huh ?

Good Lawd Paj, lol. Fellow ajepakian here. We went as far as putting numbers on the bottletops and building goalpost with real nets. And most times we played on cemented slabs. Ah sweet memories.

..and the funny thing about it was that anytime my parents get visitor,na me go dey on permanent standby to open dia drinks for dem...thereby making the houseboy go " " because U no wan make anybody just uncork the bottles anyhow and give am the "Medeen Nose" ...and the visitors never understood why I always open the bottle veeeeery slowly...dem no know sey I was trying to achieve perfect roundness of the bottletop! If U get skill,U fit open the bottle wiff a little part bend such that dat na ya "Zico" for taking the freekicks...before "Smarties" was discovered
...some peeps were just too skillfull mayn!!This one kid had a trickbag bigger than Santa Clause's...he had a way of making U look totally stupid..he'll perfectly slide the "Smarties" top and chip the 'ball'(button') to just loop it over(or ..in yoruba.."won height" a.k.a Measure Height) ya player...and at the same time set up the perfect angu-90 shot...and U know..the harder the angle the sweeter the goal..come see guys sweating and 'setting' their keeper(Coca Cola top wey dem don bend am for yansh..hence put am in a 'standing ' position) to cut off the angle...

ours was more standardized...because some peeps begin bring some ridiculously obtuse objects in for defending...we had to pull the plug when some Igbodude bring the cover if im Mama shaving cream and said "Na my keeper be dis!"The bloody thing covered the entire post..it was hard for anyone to score!! And thing was..the guy sucked! So all he did was defend!
