Good game though!
Either team is capable of winning the cup, but the Black Stars will be waiting for the Eagles in round 2!

Dude, I can realistically see Mali sending Nigeria out of the tournament. Remember they were outplayed in midfield by Zokora and Toure. In fact, the midfield is Mali's strongest part of the team. They have Sissoko, Seydou Keita and Diarra. Nigeria are up against it, and this time it's a realistic threat that they could be out in the first round.

Great stuff from both teams though. It was always going to be tough to break down the Ivorians' back four. Toure abeg remain uninjured o. Your club needs you.

So which team was the better team, Nigeria or Ivory Coast?
I'm tired of telling Paj that the Ivorians are the best team in Africa. They have great individuals and they can most certainly play as a team.
I felt sorry for you and Proudly as I watched the game. Sorry for the defeat.
However, I have absolutely no sympathy for Paj. He's disrespected the Ivorians long enough.

THAT was a very poor defense from Nigeria, not reflective of the match possession.

Thanks.
I thought both teams were good. Obviously the Ivorians won, so were maybe extra good on the day. They won, so...
I can't even describe how I feel right now. Lost for words!

The Super Eagles is a massive team with good players. Everyone knows they're one of the powers of African football. However, they have been in decline lately. They failed to qualify for the last world cup and since Jay Jay Okocha retired, they haven't been the same team.
PS: it will nice if Ghana win the cup.

@Meddeen,You seem to be having a party but do not forget that its not over yet.One battle lost but the war is still on!!
Sure the game was tight and produced the best game of the competition as expected. One would have wished for at least a point but it turned out better for Ivory Coast.Drogba was NOT in that game and Nigeria has finally looked like a team. The Mali i just watched WOULD and CANNOT beat the Nigerian team that played Ivory Coast today.
The group is unarguably the "group of Death"

Dude, I think you should relax and get back to the drawing board. At least the Ivorians have showed once again that they are the better team. They've now beaten the Super Eagles in successive Nations cup.
With regards to Mali, don't be so sure. They can play and they will cause you problems. I believe the approach of Benin ultimately affected the Malians. Not only did Benin play dirty football (by trying to get the Malians injured), they also played with 10 defenders. No matter the Malians won and that's important.

I think the Ivorians have an excellent team and they're a force to reckon with. Having said that, I think all the teams that played yesterday, did very well.

I never wrote Mali off but said that if what we saw today is the Mali you mean then yes they can play and can cause problems for any team in the group but not enough to stop the Eagles on Friday.
Thank God Eagles do not play dirty game like you would posit for Mali so we would see the best of soccer by the two.
