Kanu Nwankwo's wife (Amara Onyeador) is my cousin.......I wish pple that are so fast to lable her a gold digger personally knew her. She is a beautiful and intelligent gurl and I’m convinced that they are getting married for all the right reasons.
Her marryin’ age is not such a taboo where I come from….. Girls in my Village tend to marry very young........my mom married at 17 and Amara's mom ( who is my mother's older sis) married at 21......She's 18, but she's quite mature for her age.
Since she was 16 a lot of men (even ones richer than kanu) started asking for her hand in marriage w/o even getting to know her and they've all been turned down.
Contrary to what was said about her, she was not a poor village girl waiting for a rich guy that was swept away by Kanu, She was an Abia State Univ student, she was spending Xmas in the Village, Kanu happened to drop by a ceremony that she attended she was introduced to her by a friend of his a year ago. They both started off as friends and it eventually bloomed into a relationship.
Nyways, I’m not about to tell her life story.
They will be wedded this Sat and it will be nice if pple wish upon them a happy marriage instead of insulting the poor little gurl.

Awwww...nne na yar cousin, that's nice. I wish them the best.

not to burst ur bubbles or anything....but the comment about pple wantn' her hand in marriage @ 16 w/o known her isnt shokn'.....its quite normal in naija. And comparing hers to her parents is crazy...cos u know very well, that times now and then isnt the same!....most women bak then were expected to graduate into motherhood (atmost) immediately after secondary skool.....and it wasnt such a common knowledge then for pple to really get to know pple b4 gettn' married to them....men wwould usually spot a pretty face and seek for their hand in matrimony.

And no one knows why she chose to marry him......but u can't defend her genuine love for him with her parents' professions bcos even rich girls themselves still hope for richer men......and fame could be a factor too.

Like i said, i dunno her reason, but y the rush??...this chik is only 18....where is she rushn' to if she's that content and confident?...tryna lock Kanu own b4 someone else does?
It's ignorant to proclaim her a golddigger just cos shes married to a rich man......but i SERIOUSLY hope that she did this for all the right reasons tho....and not the seemingly obvious....and its equally important that she got the chance to know the REAL kanu in and out....not the sugar coated kanu everyone knows.....

You made a nice point. Love, they say, is blind. Nobody really knows why the 18-yr old chick fell for the guy. But, come to think of the age and social gap?? If the normal things are taken into consideration, one can come to a wrong conclusion; but I just wish them all the best. 18? Damn, that's really young in our modern world!

not to burst ur bubbles or anything. You couldn’t even if you tried, there aren't any bubbles to be busted here...but the comment about pple wantn' her hand in marriage @ 16 w/o known her isnt shokn'. Who said it was?.....its quite normal in naija. Okay And comparing hers to her parents is crazy. who is comparing? I'm just making a point that women usually marry young where I come from......cos u know very well, that times now and then isnt the same! They do have a choice true but most ladies in Amuvi marry young up till this day....most women bak then were expected to graduate into motherhood (atmost) immediately after secondary skool.....and it wasnt such a common knowledge then for pple to really get to know pple b4 gettn' married to them. Both Kanu and Amara made the choice that it was the right time, they could care less about what society expects....men wwould usually spot a pretty face and seek for their hand in matrimony. Nne, you said it urself this is 2004, it will be dim-witted if they didn’t get to know each other.

And no one knows why she chose to marry him. And no one really needs to know but the two of them and loved ones......but u can't defend her genuine love for him with her parents' professions ?????? bcos even rich girls themselves still hope for richer men She was not born w/ a silver spoon, who said she was a rich gurl? she was not looking for a rich guy, she as well as every gurl I know was looking for love. She found it in Kanu who happens to be a wealthy man.......and fame could be a factor too. which fame is this one?

Like i said, i dunno her reason, but y the rush??...this chik is only 18 her choice....where is she rushn' to if she's that content and confident? so b/c she’s married she lacks content and confidence?......tryna lock Kanu own b4 someone else does? Kanu is a grown ass man, he is the one who propose to her. He must have seen something different in her from all the ladies he dated, don’t ya think?.......believe me she does not need to lock in anyone.

It's ignorant to proclaim her a golddigger just cos shes married to a rich man. Good pt......but i SERIOUSLY hope that she did this for all the right reasons tho....and not the seemingly obvious....and its equally important that she got the chance to know the REAL kanu in and out....not the sugar coated kanu everyone knows. Believe me SHE KNOW WHO SHE GOT MARRIED TO.

I thought this had been done with. Stereotypes are difficult to erase though!!! Must you know the reason why she agreed to marry Kanu? And who told you the babe came from a family of paupers? Dad is an accomplished engineer, mum an educationist. Have you heard of Angela Onyeador before? She's the aunt and a very well-known accomplished woman in Naija and several parts of Africa.

And talking about marriage age. For Godsake, I thought Nma lives outside Nigeria, New York City precisely. In this time and age, you want to tell me that you never heard several girls in the US who are married and have two or more kids at 22??? I guess people could turn the other side and get warped statistics when they want to prove their illogical assertions!!! Check out the average age of British married women. Please check. You seem to potray the babe as a gold-digger. I think ignorance has an antidote - it's called informative education!!!

And about the new bride knowing the real KANU, Madam Marriage Counsellor, find a job elsewhere!!! QED!!!
