True. Nigeria looked gorgeous in the native outfits. I think next to the US team, Nigeria was the next best dressed.

Okay so was I however did you notice that it was Mary Onyali again carrying our national flag? en from barcelona 92 up till date mary has been performing in track and field events that aunty should be nothing less than 42 right now. Why is that country not giving our youths chance to compete? I'm sure there are untapped talents in nigeria rather than mary onyali all the time abeg I was disgusted at seeing her face there AGAIN. Don't get me wrong she was very good back in the days but right now I can't say the same at least age go dey tell on am now? dem just pick am because she know people and she don dey go before. That's very bad

Good observation and valid point, Solatoks. Really, they need to explore young talents with vibrant blood. Mary's getting old, and should go rest.

Yes there a lot of young talent in Nigeria if we look hard it is just the same thing about movies when people are so hooked to these old faces. nobody want to do the leg work. on my vacation home sometimes i have watched. some local boys forming little club among themself and i have watch them perform why cant the coaches go around scouting for this little talent NO they want already seasons ones coming to their office with bags of money to bribe. I know what iam talking I have seen it These little talent are too poor to afford a coach so they go to waste yet we keep a man in thier fourties to be our goalkeeper We will get better the day Egunje stop

Sola, I disagree with you here. Mary was in that team as an alternate athlete ( more of an ambasasador) to encourage Team Nigeria as a whole. Meanwhile, Team Nigerai was a project launched just before the All Africa Games in Abuja earlier in the year.
And again, Mary Onyali won the highest number of gold medals at the All Africa Games and she was officially declared the Atlete of the Tournament. Mary's age is well less than 42, a lot of people have been following her career, anyway.
Some young talents are in the kitty too and they are doing well. Check Ini-Obong, Deji Aliu, and others. We also lost some of them to other countries vis naturalisation - 3 in boxing to Canada, Obikwelu (Portugal) and Gloria Alozie (Spain), Abi (UK) et al.

So, Nigerian Falcons won Japan 1:0; lost over Sweden, 2:1; qualified for Q/finals and would be playing against Germany on the 20th. Wishing 'em best of lucks!
