Well, I don't know about 4-5 years ago since I didn't even know who he was back then!

All I know if that I have seen a few efforts by him in the past 2 years that I was greatly impressed by because they were just damn good screenplays. And I don't even mean "good by Nollywood standards"--I mean, they were really good by any standard you care to judge them by (Of course, the actual production is kinda wack, but that's Nollywood for you).

Only beef I have with a lot of his movies is that the endings get all Jesus-y... That really messes up the story.

Anyway, what are his most recent movies... Give me some names so I can check them out and see if there's been any drop in his quality of late.

(Btw, if you don't believe Tchidi is one of the best directors in Nollywood, who do you think is? I'm not asking as a challenge; I honestly want to know.)

Tchidi is unarguably a very good story teller. Whether he is the best of them all......I can't categorically tell. But his stories are usually different/unique and very well told.

By the way, does he have any new flick out? I think the last I saw was "Where Oceans touch"

We just had this arguement recently where it was said that Tchidi Chikere was thousands of miles ahead of Tunde Kelani since TK makes "primary three mistakes" when shooting his movies. In other words, TC is seen as the best director in Nigeria. When in fact TK's work is known by movie critics at the world film festival and they respect his work.

    Well... Let's not exaggerate.

I said that I thought Tchidi Chikere was an all-around more effective filmmaker than Tunde Kelani, but I didn't say he was "thousads of miles ahead."

I didn't say TK makes "primary three mistakes"... Though I did say he makes fundamental errors that would earn a failing grade in any film school.

The fact that TK's movies are known by film critics in world film festivals is pretty irrelevant. And frankly, I am not convinced that they actually respect his work--or the work of ANY modern Nigerian filmmaker, really--but let's not go back there.

after all these analysis and critiques of others' works, i really wonder when your very own film would finally hit the market.

My own film is not relevant to the discussion... unless I said that **I** am a better director than Tunde Kelani and/or Tchidi Chikere, which I never did.

Until then, I am just an individual with an opinion, just like anybody else.
