Thank you, there is a HUGE difference between good love scenes tastefully done AND that has absolutely nothing absolutely to do with rauchy sex scenes or even the sex act at all or voyarism. Bollywood does do love scenes extremely well, it is in the way they protray the angst, the mood, the right music, the eyes that speaks volumes and the hand that rises and fall involuntarily, the wistful smiles. Those things convey love before there is ever a need for a kiss. Bollywood actors are extremely good in using body language to convey love, even more than Hollywood IMHO. Nollywood like Hollywood had chosen to do love scenes with the touch involved (as explained a very human emotion). It simply needs to be done well and properly which is not what we get at the moment.

A few actors that can sometimes speak with their eyes though not consistency (this is in their acting generally not just in love scenes) are: St Obi, Desmond, Rita Dominic... sometimes Chide. I am thinking that they might be naturally that way as the emotion is sometimes almost incidental.

Just wanted to add that Bollywood has had to be so good at portraying love without the act of kissing and love making partly because their culture simply does not allow it. Look at the what happened when Richard Gere kissed Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty at an awards show. The public were asking for their heads on a platter (A slight exaggeration, I know..... but there was a public outcry!)

To portray love scenes without the raunchiness, the writer and the director both need to be very visually skilled, with a deep understanding of how to use those body languages that lafemmedi talked about,to convey emotions effectively.Bollywood is like light years ahead of nollywood when it comes to visually conveying emotions without the use of words or physical contacts.
Visually skilled writers/directors are almost non-existent in nollywood today.

not to mention the enormous emphasis Bollywood places on music, which goes a long way toward establishing that kind of mood and ambiance.

Stanley Okorie tinkling the keys on a Casio doesn't quite compare.

Lol!
Music.Sounds.Clean ones o!Not ones so clipped out, that they are hardly audible.
Nollywood still has not realised how hugely significant these elements are in creating moods of all kinds, including romantic moods, in a true movie.
Sound designing and movie music composition/scoring,these areas are still very neglected by nollywood.

Shame coz I think Nollywood could use insightful people like you. You churn out so many "words of wisdom"

Bollywood directors are forced to portray coyness and sensuality instead of sexuality because of the society in which they operate. In India, open affection is frown upon, ex. Richard Gere was put to task and effigies of his likeness were burnt in the streets because he gave one of India's popular actors a kiss in the cheek while bending her backwards. If they are were allowed to depict people have intimate relations on film, they would go for it in droves to add to their bank rolls but then again once can argue that their movies still do well without it as does Nollywood. The latter still hasn't gotten showing intimacy with or without clothes in a comfortable light. The writing doesn't allow for easy communication because the words are so heavy laden with cliches and forced sentiments and the actors are extremely stiff in expressing themselves because of being raised in a society where affection is kept for the inner room. Nollywood has a long way to go in this area, a very very long way.

The bolded, just had to make a comment on this. This is changing it seems. I was at an Indian friend's house and she had an indian movie on for her 3 and 2 years old that included all the taboos... I was extremely surprised. I had purchased Indian movies of late and it was the same ole, same ole fun bollywood, but this movie (sorry don't have a title) had french kissing, sleeping with someone elses wife, simulated sex act with the someone else wife.

It was shocking because 1, I could not remember if Bollywood would ever have protrayed such a story line as someone sleeping with another's wife, but I knew that bollywood did not kiss and MOST definitely had no simulated sex. It was just not the bollywood I was used to, way too Hollywoodish. I really hope that does not become mainstream for them as there is no need (speaking for myself of course). 'Innocent' Bollywood is really a lot more interesting.
